In the last week I have had three visits from double glazing salesmen, all different companies ! I have turned them all away, because I'm not interested in double glazing and told each one of them so. They do try to be persistant, but it just doesn't wash with me, I just wave my arm around, encompassing the nearby window and the front door, they blush and apologise and retreat quickly. I already have double glazing!!!! You know, it worries me greatly. These fellas drive cars, and they don't notice a double-glazed front door when it is only 3 feet away from them !!! :rolleyes: :rolleyes: Next time I'm out, driving my car, I shall be extra vigilant in case those salesmen are out and about. :-5 :-5 :-5

Does anybody else experience these unsolicited salesmen ?

Joking aside, Jim, I would dearly love to have a conservatory. Unfortunately there simply is not enough room for one at our present house, but maybe in the future if we found a house with a bigger garden ................. who knows ?

I can actually tell them the truth........ Hi there, Ahhhhh Un-plasticised Polyvinyl chloride. Now, are your Mullions and Transoms steel enforced or are they aluminium? What grade upvc do you use? How many processing techniques does it go through during manufacture? I can go on and on but they have usually legged it by then.

I also have a sign on my front door which says salesmen and collectors please do not bother ringing the bell.

Now I just need a similar sign for the phone!

I normally say 'oh hang on a second' and then just go back to what I was doing.

Work colleague of mine had a persistent telephone sales rep that was adamant they could build a conservatory at his address and had built several in his area already that they could show him. The guy wouldn't take no for an answer and unable to resist the temptation made an appointment for the salesman to call as he was eager to see if they were as good as they said they were.

So this poor salesman turns up at this first floor tenement flat in the middle of Edinburgh new town and no doubt at the next sales meeting highlighted the need for proper market research. One of the problems in having call centres based in another country I suppose

There is a good reason they knock on your door when it's obvious that your double glazed. I used to send the marketing teams out and most of the new sales did come from houses that looked done from the front. The truth is that DG being so expensive, most folk will do the house in two stages and for appearences will get the front done first. If they were to walk past a house that has the front already done, they would lose alot of work as often the back is undone or there may be just a back door or porch some-one wants to add. We have even DG garage windows before. We have even put cat flaps in.
