hello again
yes its wet windy dismal but never mind its friday.
more jobs are to be lost abroad when rail enquiry jobs move to mumbai .
All calls to National Rail Enquiries will be answered in India by the end of this year after 160 British call centre jobs were axed yesterday.
The Association of Train Operating Companies, which runs the number, is moving the work to Mumbai from Leeds-based firm Ventura.
Shocked call centre workers at Wath-upon-Dearne in South Yorkshire were given redundancy notices as they started their night shifts.
Last night the RMT's Bob Crow blasted the move as: "A kick in the teeth for another sector of low-paid workers."

this is another example of profit before passengers.
how the hell can some indian in a call centre 6,000 miles away tell you the best way to get from glasgow to plymouth when the chances are they,ve never even heard of the damnn place.
to them its just a place on a map of the uk no doubt to find the best way they would have to get the big timetable book out and look it up which takes time and costs you a fortune in phone bills just how much will it cost to phone mumbai india peak rate ?
to make matters worse and not being racist they are also difficult to understand unless you speak indian yourself.
i speak from experience from AOL when contacting their technical dept
or when i get through to the main call centre.
most of the time i just put the phone down or ask for some one who speaks english.
it took 2 phone calls to AOL before i got an irish chap who resolved my problem straight away.
in this time of recession we should be keeping and creating jobs here in the uk
not shipping them to far flung india or china because they will work for a few rupees a day and can live off a pot of curry or rice .
but once again privatisation means profit so the rich fat shareholders can keep thier greedy noses on the trough along with the ministers who privatised the railways in the first place. :yh_angry:yh_angry
