Praise where praise is due here.
Our phone line went down friday and we were left with no landline.
B.T. got straight onto it once it was reported but it wasn't a simple job. I don't understand these things due to being a technophobe but it meant it was not a quick repair.
I got onto FG thanks to one of those stick thingys you plug into your laptop as i could not go two days without annoying Jimbo and Nomad.
B.T. text us to tell us when they had started their repair, text us again to tell us how long they would be, text us again to tell us what the problem was and finally phoned us to tell us service was resumed and to apologise. They have also offered to refund the cost of the top up's for my stick thingy while i had no broadband.
Wonderfull :-6:-6

:wah: Why do you hate them?
We get plagued with sales calls to change our supplier but i suppose it's better the devil you know and i've never really had any complaints with BT except for the time they lost my on-line payment and it turned up in a bank in Leicestershire.

If they were the last supplier of telecommunications on the planet I'd relearn semaphore.

Spot has a good point here. The technology we have today was old knowledge when I did my apprenticeship with Post Office Telecommunications in 1971. It was a part of my training. When they went private (thanks to Margaret Thatcher), Mercury were set up to represent competition. Not only did Mercury not have the financial clout that BT had, BT kept the cream of the engineers while they slowly laid off the rest.
When I did my apprenticeship, there would be at least 3/4 engineers on an exchange floor. Now you will find that number per shift covering an geographical area.
If it weren't for these economic political moves enabling BT to cosolidate a large international presence, they would never have been able to compete once the big boys moved in and began installing exchanges in roadside cabinets.

I was with BT for about 17 years,, i was on one of those special packages where you get cheaper or free calls certain times etc,, we moved homes, i rang BT to inform them of our change of address and that the new home had a BT connection and i would just like to keep my new number, They said i would have to come off my package aas it was obsolete now,, if i wasnt moving they couldnt make me come off, but because i was moving they could???

They said because i was an existing customer and i already had this certain deal they couldnt take it off me just because they had stopped offering it, and even though i tried to get through to them i was still an existing customer, i was just informing them of a change of address,,, didnt matter it was their excuse to take me off that deal and put me on a dearer one. I made an officiall compliant, then asked what was going to happen because of my complaint, i was told , nothing, we just log it!!!:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl Soon as i got settled in to my new home i changed supplier, when BT asked why, i told them ,, they didnt even bother trying to keep me as a customer:-3
Sorry Spot, not as grand as you answer:wah::wah:
