Especially in business
THE woman at the centre of a nasty email scandal has lost her job.
Entertainment Publications refused to confirm if she had been sacked but the promotions voucher account manager no longer works for the company.
It was a nightmare scenario all email users fear - sending a message to the wrong person.
The target of her scathing attack, Geelong cafe owner Craig Morrissy, said the notorious diatribe had been blown out of all proportion.
* Vote: Did she deserve to be sacked?
Mr Morrissy, a client of Entertainment Publications, was described as "f----d in the head" in the foul email tirade.
"This guy is a d--k . . . as you know, I have been trying to get him to track and he has decided to do it himself in some kind of f----d up way!" the email said.
"Why are all the people I deal with so f----d in the head???"
Mr Morrissy promptly outed the account manager by forwarding her email and his terse response to his business network. "Cancel our business with you immediately, please inform your boss that vouchers will not be redeemable at our cafes from tomorrow," Mr Morrissy wrote.
"I'm involved in a few networks of business people around Geelong. I can insure that they will be all receiving a copy of your email."
The account manager hastily tried to explain her actions, but it was too late.
The email was forwarded to up to 25 businesses and quickly entered the world of cyberspace with two Facebook sites dedicated to the online stuff-up. Mr Morrissy said he wanted it all to end and would not comment further.

Whoops she screwed up her language was inappropriate for a business email and that is what got her fired.
Your email in your place of business isn't private I know I run the IT department at my place of business and we monitor all incoming and outgoing mail that goes through our server we have to. The CEO can read everyone of them if she desires and it is perfectly legal in California. I could also as the Exchange server ADMIN I have the rights but I defer that task to the boss in most cases. I only get involved if there is an issue and certain days or names are needed to be seen immediately. SO be careful what you email in the work place it isn't your private email address it is the companies.

I still in this day and age wonder why anyone at work thinks they're emails are safe, playing games on computers, talking to friends via chat, or anywhere else.
business computers are just that.....for business only.
even when on your break......you are still working for your employer...stay off the computer as its theirs, not yours.
on another forum I am on, when the thread is not permissible to be shown at work, its says........NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK........in huge letters.
employers now for years can access what you doing and saying on their own screens.
while being interviewed for a job position.......I asked why the other woman was leaving..
-the employer showed me on her own computer, the other employees screen.......the other employee was playing games on it.

In some professions it is criminal to waste tax payers money by using the computer at your place of work. Employers can usually catch them out by checking the history to see what they have logged on to. Many get caught out that way. I recall being in my doctors surgery and an elderly woman having to wait until the receptionist had finished writing her post on facebook.

And its so easy to check now, all computer systems should be backed up and its quite easy to see what a persons been doing online in their work time.

It is easier than you think to monitor every computer in a work force I don't even have to be at the computers I do it all from my desk in my office.
Illegal activity is one thing but using company equipment and its resources to twitter, facebook, shop, stream videos is killing the companies systems be it bandwidth, viruses, spyware, trojans you name it. It is a daily battle to keep servers clean, time is money in business today.
You would be surprised how many people check out PORN at work just blows me away.

Some people really are stupid though. Some access sites and then forget about it. When asked, they deny it and then some-one else checks their computer and Bingo !!!! Especially at work where it can be checked so easily.
I dread to think the subjects I have googled for this forum. Saddam, Hitler, Sharia law, peanuts :wah: No porn though.
