About 5:30 pm i took it on myself to knock on the old fellas door two doors away.
I have just finished my decking, how about helping me christen it with a glass i asked.
He was making a snack for himself at the time, thanks, lets go he said as he closed his door. How about your tea i asked. Plenty of time for that he said. We sat drinking coffee for a few hours, just the three of us, wifey of course.
He told us some lovely stories of his life and times with his late wife. 85 he is and this is the first time we have had him over, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. He went home with a few books and the agreement to come back regularly and we will visit him regularly also.
All this time we have had this lovely chap living two doors away and only ever nodded and said the occasional hello in passing. Now we have another friend.
Thought i would share this as i kinda feel good about it.

Thank-you:) Thanks to all for your kind words.
I suppose Fuzzywuzzy it is kind of out of the ordinary being quite a private person really, home, castle that sort of thing.
I will be looking out for this charming gentleman in future though, he is very pleasant company so it wont be a problem.

I know here, we don't associate personally with all neighbours, we will wave hi and bye......but we don't get into socializing.
I am a few great neighbours and friends and we do on a daily basis socialize.
...and not all neighbours are created equal.
