Brutal dog attack kills University librarian, former UGA professor - News
Clearly, something needs to be done. Seeing as how this happened in Georgia, I'm surprised someone had not shotgunned that pack into oblivian before.
I may have mentioned before, I'm not a pet person. I rarely return to a house with pets kept inside. I was attacked on my way home from school by two dogs as a child, and once on my way to school by a dog as big as I was. Ever since, big dogs make me nervous. In my opinion, rescuing dogs and adopting them out is nothing more than passing a problem on to someone else.

Strewth that is shocking. I hope the owners are charged with murder as well as putting the dog or possibly dogs to sleep.

Dreadfull.
Sadly another example of 'pack mode' in dogs.

I was just saying over at EA.....
I was angry when I saw the video this morning. Will people stop and think how this happens? How'd these dogs come to be? Were they abandoned and left to fend for themselves? Were they starved or mistreated? Were they born under a bush and never socialized? Did someone get sick of their pet dog and drive him into the woods one day and he joined the pack? They look a little Doberman-like. In fact, what this reminded me of was that cheesy horror flick in the 70s (forgot name) where a whole town as been taken over by dogs who were dumped or left behind by their tourist owenrs.
I have a feral dog at present. The jerk across the street called the pound on his kid's dogs (one post-nursing mother and three or four pups) and they were hauled off and killed. All but one pup the creep missed and it took me two weeks to trap her but I finally did. I didn't want to call the pound. I had befriended her mom over time and fed and watered her because her jerk owners didn't, and I felt I owed it to her to save her pup. But....she was feral. We'd try to pick her up and she'd fight and bite us. So three years later she is still here living in a huge kennel and run and she's still hand shy. She has finally come around that we can pet her cheek and she will come closer to us now although its on her terms. We just let her be. My fear is that I will need to handle her at some point and she won't let me. In fact, we never spayed her because the one time we took her to the vet was traumatizing for her to be handled. I have watched her closely and never seen her come into heat but still, all our pets are fixed and I feel irresponsible. Unlike these dogs in the clip, I don't think my girl would bite anyone unless they approached her and cornered her. She will back away before she confronts, I have noticed. Maybe it would be different though if she ran in a pack like these other dogs. I am wondering how long until someone labels these dogs pit bulls. You know they do that. Any time a dog incident happens it's "gotta" be a pit. Yeah right.
