I have but a few.....

An old one but good one: "paradigm." Remember in the 80s everything was "a new paradigm!" Everybody was using it, nobody could explain it! I still don't know what it means!

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist..." That's as bad as "Philadelphia Lawyer."

"Know what I mean?" Especially when said by rap singers at the *beginning* of a sentence.

Here are a few more: (video)

Fundamental. Never heard that word much until Obama learned it.

"we're all in this together". I HATE that.

"can't we just get along"? To anyone having read any history, that's gotta be the dumbest saying.

Anything Obama says.

I like the word Paradigm. :):-6

It's pronounced 'para' and 'dime', so you say 'paradime' (it's just spelt paradigm to confuse you! :wah:

It means a model or example or pattern. So if Bill Gates were to invent a perfect computer, where everything worked and where new updates just slotted in and caused no problems, it would be his 'paradigm'. It would be a model of how a computer was supposed to work. It would be an example of what he should be inventing. But because no-one bothers to work out the bugs, they just want to sell each update quickly so they can make money, so you don't get the perfection you hope for and expect, you just get expensive shoddy workmanship instead! Grrr!

So basically it means a perfect model or example of how something (anything) should be, but very rarely is.

Does that make sense? :o :)

I like 'paradox' too.

I loathe the sayings '24/7' and 'at the end of the day'. :p:p:p:D

... :D at the end of the day, it's just words... ;)

I like paradigm and paradox too.

I think 'whatever' (generally accompanied by a rolling of the eyes) can be the most annoying word.

I would work in an US Multinational and on conference calls whenever someone does not know the answer to something they say: ‘I will circle back to you on that’. It drives me nuts.

here are another few that just fall out of people's mouths:

'thanks, your doing a great job'

and this one is now really getting to me:

'well..... we should all just be happy that we are lucky enough to have a job'

People who say:

"It looks like..." when they should say "it looks as if..."

"Could of..." ... "Could have..."

"Percentage point"

& lots more.

Paradigm-yeah, you use it college alot and use it to show a shift in some insight, or something.

My paradigm for today:

Yesterday I was 54, born in 54, like a classic Chevy.

Today, I am 55. And must stay within the speed limit.

:wah: The kids will hate that all year if I say it..........................
