That's the chap whose research lead to the saving of more lives from starvation, worldwide, over the last fifty years, than died in all the wars of the last hundred.

Then my candidate for Greatest ever Benefactor of mankind is Homo Erectus' Granny Who Gave Him The Idea.
Mr Borlaug was pretty good, but not in the same league imo. Not just food but all subsequent civilisation as well...?
Not the Bright Monkey's fault that her great great great grandkids have turned out to be such bloody fools.
