I went to a spring flower show in one of the big department stores in Sydney last week and took a few photos. Tulips and daffodils these are not!! All Aussie native wildflowers.

We're lucky, aren't we, Kaylene. Actually - the store displays were wonderful and heroic even. But really, I prefer to get out in the bush and look at the little battler type wild flowers - tiny orchids struggling through, common or garden wattle turning everything gold, flannel flowers. :sneaky:

They are stunning. When I did floristry we used to have some of them occasionally, they were always much admired.

For you, lou lou belle - a pair of rainbow lorikeets. You should see some of these in Queensland. They try and come in my window here in Sydney and twitter madly... love them. Oh and galahs, and a kingparrot.

I've always heard how beautiful Australia was from the Aussie's that used to work for me while they were here in the States. (They were the hardest worker's I had working for me)

I love most flowers but I really, really love the more unusual ones. Of course they are only unusual when they are not native to where you live.

I got so excited when we were in Australia when I saw Birds of Paradise flowers growing in peoples gardens!! To me it was just wonderful.

The birds are just amazing too.

I hope you have a fantastic trip lou lou belle.

Here's a picture, for Immy, of a bird of paradise flower - they are really common hearabouts. I didn't take this photo. Oh, and Immy - congratulations on the driver teaching qualifications. Awesome!!
