I know we have done this topic before but I just found out Immy has a phobia of Daddy Long Legs. ( Daddy Long legs parcelled up and on their way to Immy's house as we speak).

My phobia is Stag Beetles.

It began when I was around 8 yrs old. I lived in part of Sussex with the ruins of a Normandy castle at the end of my road. Bats lived in the ruins and were a regular sight at dusk so I thought nothing of the swarm of 'Black things' swarming around the end of my lane as I approached them. It wasn't until I was on top of them, I found they were not bats but a swarm of flying Stag Beetles. I will never forget the 'Whirring' sound as they buzzed past my ears. Some got caught in my hair and my screams caused an elderly neighbour to run out of his house. He was pulling them out of my hair and took me home. I always walked to school through the village grave-yard as a short cut but after that I made my mother take me on a detour to avoid them.

Luckilly, they are an endangered species now here in Britian and I haven't seen one for many a year.

I don't know if this is Phobia, but when everything is going so well, and I am not stressed out about something, I always get this feeling that something bad is going to happen (like impending doom). I don't know if this comes from about 30+ years ago when I was first married to my first husband, and we were so happy, and things were going so good for us, and then he up and had a massive stroke, damn near killed him, but he had so many months of recovery after that.

I get feelings like that also and have never been proved wrong. It gets to the point now that I ring round the family to check on them. I also get feelings that some-thing is going to go in my favour and I've not been proved wrong there either. Strange isn't it? Sorry to hear about your first husband. My mother died of a stroke and It is the cruelest of cruel.

Well, thankfully I have been wrong on most counts, but it is just so hard to shake that feeling. Sometimes I wonder if it is a PTSD from when he had that stroke cause I was only 25 or 26 years old and living in another country, etc.

I had a book by an American guy (Can't remember who he was) and he said that women's Intution was a fore-sight. It was fascinating reading. He said that we should all be far more aware of these 'Gut Instincts' that we feel as they are our sense of danger.

It was... just wish I could remember the book It is strange. Years ago, i walked my elderly dog in the grave-yard near my home every evening for years without thinking twice. One night, I got to the gates and she just refused to go through the gates.... I turned back.. very odd.

When I was 4 my mum took me to a kids christmas party at the local community centre. There were about 100 kids and at the end of the party, the kids were all allowed to burst the balloons they'd been given. The noise was horrific, the feeling of the balloon in my hand made me want to vomit.

My roomie didn't know that I'm scared of them and for my 30th birthday she turned up at the restaurant we were eating at with 12 red balloons.

I had to ask her to get rid of them which she very kindly did.

I didn't realise until we got home that night, she had covered my bed in loads of pink balloons coz she thought I'd love it.

I couldn't go into the room until she'd god rid of them.

She never did that again :wah:

As Bristol is the home of the Balloon Festival, every year we get this coming over the house. I've had 4 do emergency landings in the field outside my house before during practice runs.
