My favorite meal is very Kansas City I think but it's my lifelong fave! Chicken fried steak smothered in white gravy, mashed potatoes smothered in the same gravy, homemade biscuits, creamed corn and green beans smothered in melted cheddar cheese. A HUGE unsweetened iced tea and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Oh Man! :o

It's good I can't cook all that! It's a MOM dish I crave daily! It's amazing I'm not enormous! KC is a fat city. At 6'2" and 185 I look good compared to alot of midwesterners! We LOVE our BBQ, fried foods and sugar!!!!!!!!! My cholesterol level in '99 was 320! I took meds for awhile but they clashed with my Happy Hours so I stopped. But favorite food is about TASTE and FEEL!

You go girl! You carnivore you! I love bloody meat too. RARE. I want a puddle of blood with the meat cool and bleeding red on the inside. But not at Denny's. Their meat is from Bangladesh or something.

This sounds awesome. Ranks up there with a 12 oz ribeye steak, huge baked potato, and salad with ranch dressing. I'll take a brewsky with mine and finish up with a piece of cherry cheesecake.

I like my Mum's roast beef in gravy, yorkshire puddings, roast potato's, parsnips, sage and onion with baby carrotts. Put a little of everything onto your fork and get all the tastes together. Really yummy!

For pudding......trifle preferably sherry flavour. I'm feeling home sick, I think I know where I shall be this weekend. :wah:
Actually there is brown gravy and white gravy in the states. White gravy is the leftover grease from the chicken fried steak mixed with milk and flour. Add salt & pepper and you have a real Great Plains delicacy! :o

Ummm...I'm not bashing the British, I'd LOVE to visit. But the word here is they have not so great food! Blood pudding anyone? Boiled lamb & kidney pie?? Very different for sure. I know I'd like some of the food there, maybe. But I'd likely hang out at the Chinese restaurants. :-3

No we dont boil Steak and Kidney pudding!!

Hey GDH I am getting the nerve up to try Tete Au Veau, have you ever had it ?

One of my food heroes (Anthony Bourdain) has it down as one of the must try Classic French dishes, but god I have seen it served and it looks bloody horrible.

Worst thing I have ever eaten = Sea Slug in Honk kong

Hey Bothwell...

Nope.. I have not tried that. I have tried head cheese.. sous.. and some other interesting dishes.. sweetmeats which I think is similar.

Where I drew the line...

Monkey brains when I was in the Far East.. nope.. just could not do that... and I think you know what I mean Bothwell....
