When my son was three he was an avid fan of a childrens programme called Thomas the tank engine.

I decide to take him on a train trip and he was so excited that I thought he might actually be sick with excitement on a few occassions.

We got on the train found a seat and waited for the train to get going.

A rather large portly man came into the carriage and sat opposite us. My son was transfixed. Much to my shock and horror he said to me "Look mummy its the fat controller" :o This being a character from Thomas the tank engine, that did actually look like this guy.

I tried to change the subject but he kept on saying, " it is mummy, it is? and asking why I was telling him to be quiet.

There was an elderly couple opposite who could,nt stop giggling.

I was so embarrased I decided to move seats.

Has your child/children done anything to embarass you?

Yes, my daughter quite young but she decided she was independent enough to use her own cubicle at M&S loos.

Little voice calling out 'Mummy, have you done your wee?'

Me 'Yes, love'

Daughter 'Don't forget to wipe your bum, mummy'

Outside the cubicle were ladies giggling!

I was riding a bus with one of my daughters who must have been about 3 at the time. An elderly woman was sitting opposite us. "You're very old!!" said my daughter. "Why aren't you dead?"

My mate had gone to his local gym and after his session picked up his 18 month old up from the gym's creche. He was wearing a t-shirt and loose track-suit bottoms.

He decided to pop into his local bank and pay a cheque in.

While waiting in a rather busy, his 18 month old was busy being an 18month old. He had him on reins just to ensure he did'nt run off.

After being in the queue for 5 minutes his little boy decided he was bored and began to get impatient. He then fell over and to stop himself he fell into my friend but the only thing he could get a hold of was his track-suit bottoms. with the force of the child falling still in full grip of his trousers, down they came.

This was in full view of onlookers and people in the queue.

To make matters worse, he had a pair of superman pants on, that my friend had bought him rececently.

He picked up his son and his track-suit bottoms and left the bank, red faced and totally embarassed. He said that it would,nt have been so bad but two girls wolf whistled him as he left. :wah:

I've heard this story before somewhere else, so you're not the only one whose child has embarrassed them this way. ;)

Digressing a little, my cousin and his wife had their third child, a boy. They told my grandmother that they were going to call him Thomas. My grandmother was charmed and waxed lyrical over how thrilled she was that finally one of her great-grandchildren (her 19th!) was to be named after her late husband, who passed away when we were all toddlers. After several minutes of hugs and repeatedly saying how pleased she was, my cousin interrupted and rather shame-facedly admitted that he and his wife had asked their two older children what they should name the new baby.

And the kids had replied . . . . yeah, you guessed it - Thomas the Tank Engine! :yh_rotfl

I've done quite a few things to embarrass my mom....intentionally :sneaky: I actually still try to make an effort from time to time cuz it's just all too easy.

When I was like 4? or 5 maybe? my mom and I were on a Greyhound bus travelling *somewhere, not sure where and on the tv the Wendy's commercial came on. You know the old one... "where's the beef?" well, when it got to that part I yelled "on my momma's legs!" I was serious as all get out and of course everyone erupted around me as my blushed from embarrassment.

Another time we were walking out of walmart and I grabbed my mom's hand and put it over my mouth and started screaming. "help, somebody help, I'm being kidnapped!"

Yeah.... we had been going to self-defense classes and a little bit of facetiousness jumped up in me :wah:

These days I'm a little more sly about it... When at the store and mom's not expecting it I'll grab her elbow like I'm leading her feeble old self through the motions. She gets so pissed :wah:

My son, who was probably 12 at the time, purposely tripped and fell at the mall and then started yelling, "Why did you push me". Everyone was giving me evil looks. :yh_rotfl
