My daughter has natural red hair..almost an orange color. She brought home hair dye tonight...wants to dye it blond. What color do you think its going to come out as?

I think it'll still be red, just not as bright of a red.

Might I suggest a test strip of hair. My guess it will come out a lighter brighter orange. It very hard to dye red hair without completely bleaching it out first. This is a job for a professional if she is serious about doing it.

Yes thats a great idea Carla...test it first on a strand of hair...didn't think of that.

Well. Kids are kid now, and that is that, Do not flip out, they will do what they want to do.

Test strand will give you an idea a strip of hair at the base of the neck underneath is always a good spot for a test.

I kept telling my daughter that once you start dying your hair, you become a slave to it. She had to learn the hard way though.

My other duaghter has brown hair but dyes it every 6 months because of the red highlights...it turns 3 different colors in the summer...light blond, brown & that hint of the red highlights...its very pretty but she doesn't like it

My son once dyed his hair red, I mean pillar box red. . He'd bleached the tips first so they came our even redder. It didn't look that bad actually. Now he just shaves it all off, or mostly off.

Do teenage girls ever like their hair colour????

My younger daughter, who is naturally flaxen blonde, has been everything from goth black to emerald green. She's now back to a golden blonde, which goes much better with her skin and eye colouring. My older daughter and a girlfriend both decided to go russet brown one year - this was probably the least successful household hair experiment. The girlfriend bought the hair dye. She was half maori and had black hair. So it was russet brown for black hair. My daughter, like her sister, was flaxen blonde. The black haired girl came out a great auburn colour. My daughter came out dark purple, the colour allegedly of feminist rage - and her school was underwhelmed. She was sent home to remove it, and it was unremovable. The pharmacist gave us hair dye removers - she came out apricot poodle washed out pink. Finally at great cost the local hair stylist bleached her completely and redyed her back to blonde...

In our late teens, my sister and I experimented with wigs. We would get ones with different colors from our natural hair. It was fun. And temporary.

My son used to come home on leave with his hair a different color under his hat. I'd pretend not to notice and he'd get more bizarre the next time.:wah:



I say have fun with it. Make it a mom/daughter thing.

Years ago, my son who was blonde, tried dying his hair bright red. It turned pink. He loved it. :yh_rotfl His friends still call him Pinky. He also dyed it black one time. It was hard to get used to. Thank God he is done with that phase and the mohawk stage. :yh_rotfl
