Ah yes. That brings back fond memories of attaching small mirrors to shoes before going to school dances. :)

Oh Pam,

I love the thoughts of moon festivals:-6

It's Autumn here at the beach and time for a new, special bulletin board to post outside of our classroom. We put up special bb boards because the children love to decorate them with their classwork and artwork. Everyone reads and looks at all bb boards in the school.

So, I'm racking my brain trying to think of a new and innovative bb board to put up for October and November....so tired of the same old...same old.:-1

I've thought of something new and creative for our BB board thanks to you my friend. I told my kidlets all about you, and I'll take a pic of us to send to you....They want to thank you for 'stimulating my brain' and coming up with a cool idea.:yh_rotfl

We're going to put up black paper with a large, grey, silvery moon and the beginning words to the song...By the Light of the Silvery Moon..... ***You know that song...don't you....

Then we will place musical symbols around the words and place

poems written by famous authors and my kidlets beneath the moon.

In one day, I taught my kidlets how to write a Haiku autumn poem, how to log onto Microsoft Word and use clipart. Holly, mooly...they're 8 yrs. old, and everyone of them was capable of doing this. They listened to directions and are ready to write their poems. I'm always astounded by their intelligence and willing to learn:-4

We're going to add a bit of flair to our designs with the help of our art teacher. If our bb board is successful, then it will be placed on our school's home board;)

Thank you Pam....It might take us a bit over a week to get all design and writing completed, and I'll post pics.

Boy, the kids have learned so much in a short period of time with one project...imagine.....besides what I posted already...they will also learn about the moon, stars, universe and art appreciate....We're going to arrange letters so the words to the song look like there's a shadow behind each letter and how to use a sparkly color, like purple, to offset the greys....

Everything we're learning through this wee project sounds so simple, but yet it is so complex.

It might look so simple when you see it, but you'll know how much work went into the project:-4

We're so excited....

Even our stuffy principal was stunned...& loved it...said if Quin had been in an older grade he would have gotten an A+...KE does fantastic stuff & you do KE...you are amazing...:-4

You know it is sooooo refreshing to hear someone who actuallys ENJOYS what they do for a living! I was feeling pretty weird for awhile, most nurses I run across are not passionate anymore. While I have always loved what I do, it can get depressing when you are surrounded by a bunch who dont.

Almost makes you want to upskirt and MOON! LOL!:yh_rotfl

Gosh, Kathy :-4 - I'm overcome. Thank you ! But I've done nothing. You're the one who found inspiration. A creative person can find sermons in stones after all. Grin.

This is my favourite moon poem - and I learnt it off by heart at school when I was about the same age as your children.

Silver

Slowly, silently, now the moon

Walks the night in her silver shoon;

This way, and that, she peers, and sees

Silver fruit upon silver trees;

One by one the casements catch

Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;

Couched in his kennel, like a log,

With paws of silver sleeps the dog;

From their shadowy coat the white breasts peep

Of doves in a silver-feathered sleep;

A harvest mouse goes scampering by,

With silver claws, and silver eye;

And moveless fish in the water gleam,

By silver reeds in a silver stream.
