Now i know we all need more housing but is there not supposed to be something in the allocation of new builds to cover a local shop !!!!!!!!!!
Jeez we just lost our local shop to a new building plot, ok to be honest this does not affect me directly as i have a car but where are our elderly, disabled and low income families supposed to get a loaf or pint of milk?

I totally agree. We have a new build very near us, approx 1,500 and they are still building. The site is approx a mile from the village. The village only has approx 8 shops anyway. The walk from the new build is a mile up one of the steepest hills I have known. Not one shop. I was only saying to the other half the other day, what do folk do? I've even had young mums phone the take-away at the weekend offering a driver extra money to go to the Mini Express to get them milk etc and deliver it. One guy rang one saturday night who was home alone with young babies and he paid £10 to one of the drivers to get him a pack of ciggs as he was so desperate. I also complain that not only is there no shops for these new builds, the majority are family homes and there are absolutely no facilities such as Nurserys and youth activities being built for the children. Then the police wonder why they are trashing the area out of boredom.

Pretty soon it will be impossible to move to the 'country'. As there will soon in our lifetimes be no more country.
