There is life in the old dog yet.
One particular nasty scroat is now in custody thanks to Muler the dog, Mr O and rapid response local police.
They decided to creep down our lane and break into an elderly neighbours garage to get his car only to be foiled by the racket kicked up by my dog. On Investigating, Mr O caught him red handed and was told by the scroat to Eff off and mind his own business. I don't think so !!!!!
Three cheers for Mr O :guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

They were teenagers but yes, all the same. In broad day light in the middle of the afternoon as well. Telling him to mind his own business just about sums up how bomb proof these yobs think they are. The police cut them off in the field by driving straight through the field. Mr O is just off to the Station to make a statement now. Even as the Officer was arresting him, the teenager gave the usual 'I ain't dun nuffin'. Well, he's not laughing now :wah:

Gordon Bennet you must have the whole of Bristol's contingency of scroats living down your lane. You, my dear, are a scroat magnet

Peter Lake was reckless. A neighbors car isnt worth his life. Cornering someone in the throes of a crime often leads to desperation on the part of the criminal.
Calling the police was the correct thing to do. Trying to apprehend the person in the act was dangerous. We need Peter Lake here, not as a dead hero.
Consider yourself scolder Peter Lake.

Mr. Oscar? He's a badass!!! He's gotta' be a badass to be married to Mrs. Oscar! :wah::wah::wah:
I can't condone that sort of vigilantism either, but I would've done the same thing, too... although, I would've had my Sig cocked and ready.

The thanks really should go to the local police who were there even as Pete was still on the phone to Central Control. They all ran off but It was due to the police getting there so quick that they got caught. We have had a forensics guy out today for finger-prints. Pete has made his police statement down the Nick and the emphasis was put on. 'Was the youth put into the car, the one he saw breaking In'... that tells me the bugger is blaming one of his pals Instead. The youth has just been bailed also.

No... we do NOT have a contingency of scroats living down our lane. They do not live there, none of the trouble we get like this is by youths who live around here. It is the age old problem of a Private Lane that consists mostly of the backs of folks houses and rear garages. That is what attracts them. They don't realise there is a house down there, they just think it's easy pickings. It happens to many lanes that run the back of folks houses. Scroats pick them because they think they will go un-seen and usually most folk are out all day.
In actual fact, If folk were not so conditioned to turning a blind eye when we hear a dog barking manically, or hearing an unusual noise, we may actually help our police more. We can't epect the police to do everything. It's a shame that more people in Britian don't look out for their elderly neighbours as we do and keep an eye on their property. That car is our elderly neighbours life-line. He would have been devastated If Peter was five minutes too late and they trashed It. That is what is missing in todays british society... a complete lack of caring for any-one else in the community. Turn a blind eye until it happens to you.

Good on Mr O, we need more like him, not afraid to have a go.
Too many willing to just look the other way, too afraid for themselves and sod their neighbours.

Thanks everyone.
The elderly neighbour is so grateful for Mulder barking and Peter being aware of responding to warnings from our dogs.
Carla.. The car was a Vauxhall Astra but is the Old boys lifeline for getting about.
Mulder has different kinds of barking that only Pete, myself and the neighbours know the difference between.
1) An Idle woof woof which tells us that a Pigeon has flown by.
2) An animated bark which Indicates a human, cat or dog has passed the gate.
3) The Manic growling and barking with charging the fence which is what makes us get up to Investigate.

Isn't it amazing how we can learn our dogs different barks, even if no one else has a clue? They make great alarm systems. :-4

Absolutely. I was astonished when a woman who lives 6 doors away told me once that when she hears that real manic barking from my dogs, she always goes to look because she knows something is very wrong. When he's charging the fence also, thats when we all know It's serious.

We've learned to sleep right thru some of the dogs barks...but my Chow has a very distinct bark if she see's something going on and it always wakes me up so I can go check it out. My big boy has a huge bark, but he barks at everything and we never even hear it. :wah:

:wah: Scully gets me.... Mulder and puppy are out in the garden barking at something. Scully is in the house asleep, wakes up and barks yet can't see them and doesn't have a clue what they are barking at. :yh_rotfl

My Cody is the same way...he sleeps and then if he hears any other dog start barking he will sit up and start barking with no clue what he's barking at...even my other two don't pay attention when he barks! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl
