Differences

I'm the father of five (four females and one male). When my oldest daughter was married 3 years ago, I wrote a song for us to dance to which was performed by my son who wrote the music. So naturally I set a precedent.
My second oldest daughter is to be married this coming Saturday (November 14th 2009) and I wanted to share my poem(?) which my son is diligently putting a melody to. I didn't give him much time.
Anyway, I've recently come to the realization that both me and my daughter share Asperger"s Syndrome. Neither one of us have been professionally diagnosed, but we both fit the profile 100% and I don't believe I need to spend upward of $2500.00 for each of us to receive confirmation of what is already certain.
That realization is the context for this song/poem.
Differences
We're different, you and I
Not like we're different,
you and I
We're so much alike, you and I
But we're different, you and I
I've always thought I was somehow off
and I saw the off on you
but I didn't understand, then
So you taught me, showed me and you led me
I get it now, and again
Thank you, Sarah
You're so bold and strong
Much more so than I
You're a gift I was given
From somewhere way up on high
I Love you and I need you
and I want you to be happy
I want to watch you fly
Because we're different
You and I
