No cars...No effect whatsoever.
It's the lack of moral principle from which you get "babies having babies".

So you don't see lack of moral principle as "being uneducated"?

Yes, I find it defines ignorance actually!
Thanks for bringing it up.
I define the lack of moral certainty in one as being ignorance itself. One is as moral as they are intelligent and intelligent as one is moral.

Where do children get moral values, they are "taught" them, aren't they?

Some argue that and some argue not. As for myself I would say children are guided with the importance of moral values. It's up to them to be moral. The importance of it all being moral values being present as opposed to not present at all

I don't think I ever taught my kids about sex. Not as such. No embarrassing little chats were had. The family always talked about stuff. Everything. Films, books, moral values, school friends playground games, their bodies, new babies, animals, some porn they'd stumbled on . Kids are curious. They asked questions sometimes. Maybe the answers we gave differed depending on their ages at the time - but I could never see any reason not to give a proper answer.
By the time their schools started discussing puberty and sexuality and condoms and tampons and involuntary erections - they already had a pretty good idea.
I've always thought openness the best policy. And healthy. Whether it's about who made God, or how do you make a baby or why is some kid a different colour to some other kid, or why some girl pop star is kissing another girl pop star. As they grew up, I also let them know I don't have all the answers.

I personally feel that children should not be taught sex and should learn for themselves.
I understand stressing the importance of not having children at a very young age but I've always liked girls and assume I have since conception. I wasn't taught about sex, to a very large extent, so I don't understand it when I see parents trying to have "the talk", I quite simply don't get it.
Do not understand that reasoning because I think it could clarify alot of the mis-information that kids could easily get from other kids. My mother never really gave me the "talk", my father was a dinosaur when it came to me dating at the age of 17. To me he was a very mis-informed man, and thought that all girls would "do it". He was a person that did not seem to have a lot of respect for women, my mother included, and he did not present a very happy home. I would have supposed, that my mother, if she felt comfortable giving me that talk, then maybe I would have not been so embarrased when I left my tampon box in the bathrom, and my father came out from the bathrom and told me that I "left my gear in there." I never felt so small or embarassed as I did then. Talk about being understanding or nice, there was quite a bit lacking. In hindsignt though, my mother was a wonderful person, and not my dad.

I think the bottom line is that kids are KNOWING way too much these days as it it, and why should they not receive the real stuff as opposed to a bunch of mis-guided crap? Knowledge is always more precived as beneficial as opposed to ignorance.:-2:-2

Stupid seems a little harsh, "uninformed" is more like it. Which is passed down from generation to generation due to lack of proper educating, from one to the next! :-2

"Stupid", in my mind, is defined by ones opacity to learn, but with a lack of desire to know what's defined as being morally in their best interests. It's what I mean, entirely, when I say morality defines one's intelligence, and vica versa.

Yep, excellent answer Pam. I guess that's why so many have trouble now, the old "Let's all eat dinner at the table together and discuss things a s a family" days are over.
And that's not a good thing.

I handed my son a down to earth book from the library it was great and he devoured it :wah: I've always been totally open and honest with my two, when they asked questions I answered honestly. My daughter is still up for asking direct questions but my son is entering teenagedoom and doesn't want to discuss anything with me  He is obsessing over getting a mobile phone with a camera so he can receive porno videos from friends. He wasn't impressed when I told him he doesn't need to have a phone for that we could watch them together on the net. :wah::wah:

G'day Saint!! Nice to see you again!!!
I agree on the value of sitting down together as a family at least for the evening meal. Don't know if any deep and meaningful discussions about life, the universe, everything... occurred as we passed the tomato ketchup - but it was, and still is, certainly an affirmation of family identity and togetherness. And a fun social event too. I guess we did at least catch up on the day's main news. :sneaky:

Hello Pam... I missed that gregarious spirit of yours. I saw a Time magazine article that said that family communication was "under attack" from all sides due to videogames, TV, DVDs, and worst of all... cell phones! Hardly a single family in the poll reported that they were able to sit down together at a meal without being interrupted by a cell phone call.
Interesting, huh?

GUFFAW... Yep it's gotta have the naughty, taboo element in order to be 'right'. And def shared with his probably pimply hormone ridden mates, not his mum. But, Betty - you've probably protected him forever already against real nasties - by putting the whole thing in context for him since he was small. And keeping your lines of communication open.

Very sad, Saint!
I'd like to see someone bring a cell phone to the table in my house?!! Except in exceptional circumstances. Not that we don't occasionally get a call during dinner. (Durned telemarketers). Missed calls on cell phones can be dealt with after the meal.
Love the new iPhones by the way. We actually lost where we left the car recently - and my son just pulled out his phone and told us the GPS position which he'd somehow recorded. Fantastic.
