I think the more you help people, the more dependant they become on you to be there and supply them with whatever they need. I don't mind helping people and I also enjoy doing it but I have to know my limit. When it starts to take a toll on my finances or emotions, I end it.

There are buckets and dippers, you're a bucket, I'm a bucket. Dippers are always going to dipping out od us buckets, ya just gotta know how much dipping to allow. When someone asks what you are, just say bucket.

Sometimes I permit myself to get too drawn in too and then find I have to pull back too much in order to compensate. Its a thin rope to walk.

Do you not find that sometimes you switch from one to the other, for a while you may be the dipper, then you switch to be a bucket. Surely one should aim to surround themselves with a balance of both. What you need to avoid is the leeches

I've been a bucket, a dipper, a pirate,
A poet, a pawn and a king.
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing:
Each time I find myself laying flat on my face,
I just pick myself up and get back in the race

Not really Betty, I think I'm destined to be a bucket. I think I like being a bucket, I don't necessarily do the things for the other people , I think I do them because it makes me feel better about myself.
