The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint at this Website. You can register your home or mobile phone for free.

Canada Website Link: http://www.donotcall.ca/

Wanted to share this since it has worked for me! I no longer receive any more of those annoying telemarketing calls :-5

We have a statutory one in the UK called TPS Registration

It's effective to an extent. What it doesn't stop is calls from registered charities - they're exempt - or calls from overseas, they're beyond its jurisdiction. I keep getting offered free cruises and cheap stock options from firms in Florida.

As of recently, cell phone numbers are now listed, so be sure to list your cell with DNC. I make sure to keep all family members numbers current on the registry.
