MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

Maybe I'm just ducking saying it for that reason? Which may be Ian's point....

:wah: Anyway, there was/is a genuine reluctance to use the "L" word!

BC, what makes me cringe is when you watch a live TV show and the 'star' shouts 'I love you' to the crowd at the end of their set. It sounds so insincere and tends to 'rubbish' the real meaning of 'I love you'. I agree with you that 'I love you' is said far too much, and is never meant as it is supposed to mean. Acquaintances who say that to each other are so plastic, even false. They don't really 'love' that person that they hardly know !!!!! It's like the 'luvvies' who call everybody 'dwarling' !!! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl Oh I said 'I love you' to Ian earlier, but he knows very well that it isn't 'love' in the true sense of the word - how can it be? Oh I quite like Ian, and I assumed the thread was a bit of fun, so I joined in with it !

I believe that 'love' is the feeling that you have towards another, regardless of the gender, that you would be there for them always, that you would try to protect them, treat them like you would a loving sister or brother, that you totally enjoy their company and look forward to seeing them again, and are saddened when they have to leave your company. The other type of 'love' is for the person that you want to spend your life with, your partner, your spouse, the person you can't bear to not be with all the time, the person that you desperately miss when they are away from you. Similar to the other 'love' but far more intense, and of course more physical.

;) :-6 :D

Of course Ian!

You see, I believe love is a choice, not so much a feeling. The feeling associated with love goes away and can be lost if not associated with CHOOSING to love. That is where the real commitment comes in. I choose to stay, I choose to struggle onwards with you, I choose to stick with you no matter what, and I choose to be a partner and companion :yh_bigsmi(this list is for example only, not to be redeemed in any way)
