A SOMALI jailed for sheltering a policewoman's killer won the right to stay in Britain yesterday.

Outrage erupted after Hewan Gordon, 38, won an appeal against a Government bid to deport him.

Gordon had served 18 months' jail for giving refuge to evil Muzzaker Shah, one of the gang which shot dead PC Sharon Beshenivsky in Bradford in 2005.



The Home Office wanted to boot him out and send him back to his war-ravaged homeland.

But an immigration tribunal backed his plea to be allowed to remain in the UK.

The decision was condemned by police, politicians and Sharon's widower Paul, who said: "I am appalled. I don't understand how these do-gooders who sit on the board can sleep at night.

"They should have spoken to my kids about how they miss their mum and the effect on their lives. I'm absolutely sickened."

The decision by the Special Immigration Appeals Commission is said to have been made on human rights grounds. Gordon is thought to have claimed he faced persecution back in Somalia.

But ex-Scotland Yard commander John O'Connor said: "What about the human rights of Sharon's family? This man committed a grievous offence - it is incomprehensible that he should now be allowed to stay."

Home Secretary Alan Johnson was "furious", with a Home Office source saying: "He wants this low-life out of the country as much as the people of Britain do. It beggars belief anyone can think he deserves to stay here."

The UK Border Agency, which had served Gordon with a deportation notice, said it was "disappointed" and was taking legal advice on overturning the ruling.

Gordon hid 25-year-old gangster Shah from cops at his flat in Newport, South Wales, knowing he was on the run over the murder of mum-of-three Sharon, 38.

She was killed and colleague PC Teresa Milburn wounded in a travel agency raid.

Shah, a British Asian, was initially helped by a schoolfriend in London before being taken in by Gordon. He was arrested after a siege and given life for murder.

Four other men were convicted of either murder or manslaughter.

Gordon - given asylum after coming to Britain in the 1990s - admitted hiding a murderer with intent to impede his arrest.

Shadow home secretary Chris Grayling said the decision to let him stay was "extraordinary", adding: "We desperately need to replace the Human Rights Act."

they let an illegal immigrant who hides the killer of a wpc stay in england and continue to give him benefits housing benefits council tax paid etc this is just unbelieveable and who is this quango immigrant tribunal board anyway ???

gordon should be detained in jail while attempts are made through the courts

to remove him.

but this is not likely to happen here in our immigrant overun politically correct broken britain.

hopefully we can get rid of this scum and send the mad islam 4 uk muslims with with him.

time is running out for gordon brown and labours politically correct reigeme

Men who helped Pc killer on run are jailed

TWO men who helped one of Bradford Pc Sharon Beshenivsky's murderers while he was on the run from police, have themselves now been jailed. At the time Muzzaker Shah was one of Britain's most wanted men. Within days of the killing of Pc Beshenivsky and the shooting of her colleague Pc Teresa Milburn outside Universal Express Travel Agents in Morley Street, Bradford on November 18, 2005, Shah was named along with Yusuf Jama and his brother Mustaf as chief suspects. Yusuf Jama was quickly arrested in Birmingham but with a nationwide hunt going on for the other two, Shah turned to Adrian Robinson, a former school friend and fellow member of the Thug Fam gang on the Grahame Park Estate near Wembley, London for help.

Leeds Crown Court heard yesterday Robinson travelled with Shah to the home of a friend, Hewan Gordon in Newport, Gwent. They stayed with him several days during which Robinson shopped for Shah. When they thought the net was closing in on him, another property in Cromwell Road, Newport was rented so Shah could continue to lie low. But Shah was arrested on December 12, 2005. Robinson, 24, of Dessouter, Grahame Park Estate, London, was jailed for four years after admitting assisting an offender. Gordon, 36 of Alexandra Road, Newport, Gwent, who admitted the same offence was jailed for 18 months. Sentencing them Judge Stephen Ashurst said: "On the 18th November 2005, Muzzaker Shah committed one of the most notorious crimes of recent times. "In the course of an armed robbery which he and others carried out at Universal Travel in Bradford two serving police officers, Teresa Milburn and Sharon Beshenivsky were shot as they were doing their duty in protecting the public from very serious crime." "Pc Beshenivsky was shot dead. Not only did her family suffer, as no doubt they continue to suffer, the grief of her violent and unnecessary death, but also the public both locally and nationally were outraged by the truly shocking nature of her murder." Within days Shah emerged as one of the murder suspects and was "one of the most wanted criminals at large in this country." He said Robinson played a more significant role in helping him evade justice. "Muzzaker Shah was no doubt a desperate man and he turned to you, an old friend for help and you gave it." Over two weeks, he accepted out of misguided loyalty, Robinson helped Shah move to Wales and provided essential services. The judge said it not only prolonged the agony for Sharon Beshenivsky's family, but also prolonged the massive police operation hunting for him. Shah, and Yusuf Jama are each serving life sentences with a minimum of 35 years for the murder of Pc Beshenivsky. Police are still searching for Mustaf Jama, believed to have fled abroad. Two other men are serving sentences for manslaughter and a fifth for robbery. Jonathan Devlin, prosecuting, said: "The prosecution case is that life having become a little too hot for Shah on the Grahame Park estate in London he travelled to Wales." Stephen Vullo, for Robinson, said in hindsight he realised the seriousness of what he had done but had just seen it as helping a friend in trouble believing Shah's claim he had not shot the officer. Harold Baker, for Gordon, said he had not known what Shah was wanted for. "He simply made a very bad mistake, he got involved in something much more serious that he thought it was." After the case Det Supt Andy Brennan said: "Gordon and Robinson must have been fully aware that they were assisting one of the country's most wanted men to evade arrest and ultimately justice."
