Seems to be a peculiarly American practice be-well I've never heard of it before but perhaps I've let a sheltered life-or maybe in the UK most peoples reaction to such an act of dominance/hazing? would be to bite off the offending appendages in any case the attraction of such a potentially painful practice completely eludes me.
