The other night I watched Brian Williams on the NBC news. He told about the late Paul Harvey and how he would submit his articles to his friend, J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI, before they were aired on radio or TV. Williams finished up by saying they both were avid communist haters. Brian said it as if that was a bad thing. Makes me wonder why the whole thing was even brought up. Both Harvey and Hoover are dead now. I guess that makes them a safe, easy target for Williams and NBC "news".

We often let folks know we are going to be running a story that names them and ask if they would like to comment. That's news stories though, not commentary. I do agree that if he submitted - which implies he sought approval - it was inappropriate. If, however, he just ran it by for comments, no problem, so far as I can see.
