Any advice on how to deal with a stinking cold please?

I know we all get them but I usually get one approx every 5 years.
It all starts with a pain in one eye which then becomes extremely sensitive to light. Then I know that I'm in for a Big one.
True to form, I have spent a day with eye pain in one eye and today the pain has started in the other eye. I know that come tomorrow, the two will be so sensitive to light that I will have to wear shades in-doors.
I have no Idea why my eyes are so affected this way but It really is agony. They are also sore from constantly streaming with tears.
I have all the other symptoms, cough, sore throat, blocked nose etc but I can deal with that.
Even If I go to bed In the dark, the pain in my eyes keeps me awake.
Doesd any-one else have this when they have a bad cold and what do you do?
Thanks.

I have information that would help you if it were a regular cold but stinking colds are beyond my expertise.
Sorry.

Sounds a bit like sinusitis putting pressure on the eyes.
A good decongestant?

Total immersion in a steamy hot bath for an hour with several spoonsful of Vick. You'll need someone to hold you under. You could raffle that bit.

If all that doesn't help the eye pain in a couple of days, see a doc and get some antibiotics. Sinus infection can be problematic.
meantime, when in shower tilt your head back and get water up your nose as far as you can and let it flush out you sinuses.
It really helps.
Then, drink three of four of Spot's hot toddies, and curl up by the fireplace for a few hours.

Thankyou Spot... It was lovely... well, several were lovely actually. Hic. I didn't have any Whisky so I substituted It with Cognac.
I have since been told by my surgery via Doc call, that It is 'Seasonal Influenza' and apparently sensitivity to light Is one of the most common symptoms. There Is nothing I can do but sit It out with pain killers, lots of rest and an airy house I have been advised.

Today, I learned the delights of daytime Tv.
I watched several programmes that Included.
Some gross women sitting around a desk like an old slappers night out talking crap.
Some nosey parkers who rumaged in folks attics and flogged their goods off at auction.
A Man called Jeremy who patronised and played to the camera for an hour telling people to 'Step up to the mark'.
Two demented women who went round dirty folks houses and cleaned up for them.
Grime Busters who went round towns un-clogging drains after they got blocked by folks bodily waste.
Some Patronisng Orange man who told people what he thought their old toot was worth.
A very nice man called Tim who gave four people some money to go and buy a load of old toot at a market only for It to lose money In the auction.
A man called Noel, who encouraged a woman with lots of hair to open empty boxes.
Thank God for Judge Judy.

Chew 8 raw garlic cloves. A stinking solution for a stinking cold. Oh, wash the garlic taste down with 6 oz. of brandy.

O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,
Has found out thy bed.

The doctor's just being tactful, it's a sure sign of a bite by a rabid fox. Once the infection reaches the central nervous system and symptoms begin to show, the infection is practically untreatable and usually fatal within days, during which the patient may experience periods of mania.

BEWARE !!!!
If you have a streaming cold DO NOT DRIVE !
A Scotsman has been given a 'Fixed Penalty Ticket' for £60 for blowing his nose, whilst at the controls of his car !!!!! He was stationary, gears in neutral and handbrake on.
There was nobody behind him, but a queue of standing traffic in front of him. He had to blow his nose because he had a head cold. Needless to say, he is contesting this 'ticket', and if necessary he said he will go to court
What the hell is going on here? Thinking about it, I realise that this is the UK so this sort of rubbish is to be expected !
Unfortunately I missed the part of the report where it gave the location of this 'serious offence', but it is an ongoing news item simply because of the stupidity of the actions of a police officer, so the location may be revealed in a further report during today.

That Is just Inane. What next? This Is down to the Officer who pulled Him. I was caught with no seat belt on last year. I knew the Officer had seen me so there was no point in pretending and trying to get it on quick and he followed me signalling to pull over. I had been watching many of those 'Caught on camera' nuts in the US and did consider giving him a high speed persuit just for the fun of It but sensibility kicked In. Anyway he pulled me over and I said words to the effect of 'It's a fair cop Guv', please don't hit me'. He asked If I was that woman in the papers and then said 'I haven't seen you today'. So It Is down to the Officer.
Christmas Eve, the police were out in force as usual for drink drivers and one of our delivery drivers was clocked speeding on a delivery. The Police car followed him right back to the shop and I came out to help translate the Turkish. The Officer knew me and seeing he was 'One of ours' looked at his licence, saw six points and told him that he would give him a warning. If it was anyone else they would have been breathalised and had the works. It really Is down to the Officer I am sure.
Keep us posted on the case Gill.

That sort of corrupt policing is why there are so many offences on the statute book. Every single infringement of every single law should be rigorously detected and taken to court. That's the only way to get them repealed. Arbitrary prosecution is the bane of England.

Although on those two occassions, it were to our benifit, I do agree entirely with you.
I have met some genuine Officers of Late who seem to prefer the Crime Prevention route but you will always have the Rookies who think they are in an episode of The Bill and strut around bending the rule book and systematically lying under oath in court. Fortunately, most of these get flagged up very early In the career by complaints to the IPCC or The Police Standards Commission and they don't last long In the force. Equally, to benifit from an Officer turning a blind eye Is really as bad as the Officers who make It up as they go along. I would love to argue with you but on this I totally agree.

It's hard to tell once it evaporates into soft deletion.
At a guess it started with "Thank you for your pm regarding the jokes I paste" and it might have been titled "Dear Mustang".
