Hello All,

2 questions please.....

1. I post pictures from NASA's picture of the day site. This whole site is written in Chinese......Is something wrong with my laptop or is the site being spammed? I have no problems with any other site being written in another language except this one.

Astronomy Picture of the Day Archive

2. Something is wrong with my microsoft word processor I think.....

It's difficult typing sentences at times unless I go slowly and correct often. As I'm in the middle of typing, my curser goes other places, such as to a new paragraph or back to the middle of the sentences. Or, everything is erased. I'm copying after I write a few sentences as it will disappear. Anyone know what this glich is about....

Many thanks,

Kathy Ellen

I think you must be accessing the Chinese (or whatever it is) version of the site.

On your link if you click search, then, picture of the day, you get an English version, and it remains English there after.

Possibly some glich on the site, doubt if it has anything to do with you or your browser.

Now.......about your MS word ?

I have no idea, try rebooting.

It's from a university in Taiwan, Kathy. There's lots of Chinese characters on the webpage.

Oh - the Word thing too. Maybe your mouse needs new batteries. Or you could try shutting down the computer and powering on again.

I clicked on Kathy Ellen's link and found it to be in Chinese, as I say above, if you then click on the link far left of the chinese script, then on the search link under the title of the page, then the Astronomy Picture of the day link left of page, it returns you to the English version of the site.

I am almost sure there is some sort of link mix up on the site.

Thanks for your help everyone,

Spot, every picture is in Chinese not just the one.

I will turn off my laptop and see if things right themselves, and I'll check my batteries in my mouse.

Then I better get out to check on my car in this blizzard:-1

Thanks:-6

On the icon bar next to the system tray do you have a blue square with EN in white letters?

I have found that occasionally the system parameters go walkabout and that changes to a Chinese character producing fairly much the symptoms you describe. Right click on it and reselect English.
