It's a cold, windy, rainy with hail, Sunday morning here in Christchurch. We have just started a fire in the fireplace for the first time this season and down onto the fire comes a birds nest with a couple of burning birds. My wife is pretty upset about it. This ever happen to any one else?

That would upset me too. I love my birds. I don't have a fireplace. I could see how this could happen though. :-1

It's not like you put bird seed in the chimney to entice them. Birds crash into windows all the time too. Some things you can't prevent. Send them to heaven. It's better there, anyway. Yikes. That sounded depressing.

You know what I mean.

Yes we must have had a nest in our Fireplace also many years ago. As one cold morning after the Fire was started we heard noises in the chimney. But nothing came down it, & the noises quickly stopped. So hopefully they got out the top of the chimney where they came in. :wah:
