Tonight will be the Opening Ceromonies in Vancouver for the 2010 Paralympic game which run from March 12 - 21, 2010. There are still a number of the venues and houses left open from the 2010 Games back in February for the public to visit, if they did not get a chance to get in back in February.

There are going to be something like 333 medals available to be had in sledge hockey, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, wheel-chair curling and the biathlon.

Just wondering how well these games are advertised through out the world, since these events and athletes are basically the same as the regular Olympics and Olympians, but the Paralympians are people who have physical disabilties.

I am looking forward to watching some of these events on TV, because so much credit has to be given to the individuals for overcoming their disability to achieve what they are doing now.

Hopefully, these games will get a lot of audience and good positive exposure to them.

Amazing athletes in these games. I wish all countries well. I don't think these get near the publicity as they should.

There has been little or no publicity that I have seen over here in the UK, and that is disgusting. These disabled athletes deserve as much notice as the able-bodied athletes get, if not more! The terrific effort and single-minded endeavour is probably greater even than able-bodied athletes'. I feel that we fall short of giving these amazing people the respect that is their due, and I am ashamed. I don't even know if there is TV coverage transmitted in the UK! :-5 :-5 :-5

I am going to bump this thread up, because I can. But, obviously there is not much interest here. I have been watching the opening of the Paralympic games here in Vancouver, and the stadium is jam-packed and so far it looks pretty good.

Okay, I am pretty persistent - but I really thought I would have a better response than this. Pretty pitiful - obviously most people think people in wheelchairs are nothing, and people that don't have all their parts working are worth next to nothing.

Well, excuse me, but there are so many people that excel above at least a good 75% of us regular people that actually do something with our lives, as opposed to peple giving out mere opinions (and arbitrary) on the internet.

Hey, I'm with you on this. I have a cousin who took part in games like that when he was younger. It was a happy time for him to be with others and take part in things. I wish some would be televised but I think people don't want to be reminded what could happen to them too. What can we learn from them? To never quit.

I watched one round of curling durling the olympics. That's it.



So I ignore on an equal opportunity basis. The worse thing to happen would be for folks to be guilt tripped into paying attention, IMO.



I don't give anyone credit for overcoming anything to be anywhere, either. I give them credit for making more effort then I do on a daily basis to do more then just survive.

I watched the opening ceremonies and have had no time for the games as I didn't have time last month either.:-5

The only thing I had time to watch was here and there in men's hockey.
