Sunday night left me feeling stupid and in pain. It's Spring here in Northern Idaho. The weather is gorgeous. So what do you think I was doing?

You bet, I was BBQ'ing short ribs for the family. Back and forth, back and forth - I was rushing in and out of the house checking on the meat and getting the kitchen stuff done.

In my haste to get everything done quickly, I grabbed a brand new sharp potato peeler and started peeling - fast. No problem. I've never ever had an accident peeling potatoes before. I was watching the kids out through our kitchen window. They were on the trampoline and the dogs were chasing each other and the ball.

Last and final potato. Almost done, looked up, lost track of where my index finger was and went from the potato to my finger in one nice long swipe.

Ever see a chunk of your finger land in the sink? Not a nice site nor a good feeling. Got the finger to stop bleeding after a few hours of pressure.

On the mend and ready for those damn potatoes the next time.

EWwww, thats sounds painful. By 'chunk of finger laying in the sink" I hope you don't mean you actually cut it off!!! That would require a little more than holding pressure on it for a few hours.

I've worked my fair share of fingers, toes, even arm and leg amputations. Even packed a few parts in a cooler on ice to take to the ER, hoping for re-attachments.

You gotta be careful girl!

Geeze can I offer you a band aid too??

Tomb I think you need to slow down a little. Gosh I hope your ok though and make sure you don't see any of those fancy red lines that look like veins running up your arm.

Hope that piece of your finger doesn't wind up in "Wendy's Chili".

Ever try to figure out which piece is the top of your thumb in a pile of sliced pepperoni? I have. It sucks. You have my absolute sympathy, Tombstone. You can probably feel the wind blowing on your cut right now.

On the bright side, it's probably beautiful where you live. The Idaho panhandle is just West of Whitehead Lake and that country is spectacular. Concentrate on the beauty surrounding you, and not on the ugliness of your former appendage.

Thanks for the responses everyone. The injury was more like a "divot". About half the size of a dime.

I'm definitely typing slowly today. Using the "9 finger method."

If you have anymore tips for me (pardon the pun), I'll be in the Kitchen. :p
