I've never experienced this before and it's very strange...I forget that I can't speak and these alien, unintelligible sounds come tumbling out when I answer the phone or speak to someone. My GP advised whispering but my daughter's Google search suggested that I talk with a sigh. I tried the sighing with the Home Delivery chap yesterday and the poor bloke could hardly wait for me to sign the slip before running quickly back to his van and driving off at breakneck speed

Sorry, sorry!! I mean you poor girl, with probably a sore throat and this dastardly vocal handicap. When I heard of you using your 'sighing voice' on the unsuspecting delivery man, I had visions of an old silent film, with vamp style screen goddesswith fluttering eyelashes and sequinned brown (black and white?) cardie.

I suggest you drink loads of that English abomination type drink (unless it's tea that caused this indisposition in the first place) and wait, in hope, until the current undignified alien croak becomes an enchanting, deep, exotic, sexy half-voice. You'll be inundated with handsome princes then, delivering diamonds, mink coats, champers and invitations to join them on their yacht in the Greek islands.

It has been years since I had a besotted endearment...would I even recognise one now? Maybe I've had loads and loads and mistaken them for something else

No point ringing you then, we could both try heavy breathing at one another . Off to buy some whiteboards for Monday then, we'll entertain the children if nothing else :wah:

Hope you're better soon and the man only ran because he realised if he listened a moment more he'd be putty in your hands, can't be having that, all his deliveries would run a few minutes late

I lost my voice for 3 days a few years ago. My family still refer to it as the best 3 days of their lives. Work was a total nightmare. Of course the phone rang more than usual. The customers thought they were cute and would ask questions to try to get me to attempt to talk more. Frustrating! When I got my voice back, it was payback time. :yh_rotfl

Yes, we can sigh heavily and loudly in unison to show our disdain for Snowfire :sneaky::p

The mime workbook sounds fun, mentioned our visit to my daughter, the sheep is coming on the trip with us, it wants to say 'hello' to you apparently and let you know that it has a happy home now :wah:

It'll be good to see someone! Here I am, a week off work, can't go and see baby Daisy because I might be infectious, can't talk on the phone, can't even talk to myself :-1

Things are fine with me thanks Theia. My wife has been very unwell for a few weeks. We dont know what it is yet. We are hoping the scans will rule out anything serious and she can once again chase me round the bedroom :wah:

I feel this is all related with stifling your feeling with your Mothers passing.

Your body is telling you to voice your feelings - to deal with this issue.

This is not a sore throat - you don't need meds for a cure.

Perhaps starting with writing your feelings down and laugh & cry and work through the emotions that you've chosen to ignore or set aside.

Losing your voice will happen again - panic attacks will surface again...

Thank you, Patsy...I always used to "write" and experience my feelings. On several occasions recently I've almost begun to write, but haven't...your post has made me wonder.
