As a teenager I grew up in the era of DA (duck's ass) haircuts kept in shape with greasy pomade that left a stain on the couch and pillows. Unwashed Levi's and engineer boots, and I conformed to the dress code of the day and area where I lived. Later, after military service, with their own dress and grooming requirements it was in vogue to have that smooth, trimmed, close shaved Cary Grant, Clark Gable, William Holden look.

Today's young men have the look of unmade beds, spiky hair, 3 day growth of beard, washed (bleached jeans) with holes in the knee's and open shirt to show the abs of steel. Dressing down really seems the order of the day. Is one era better than the other? No---------just different-------and 20 years from now it will be a whole new ball game.

By the time I was getting to where I could choose my style I went for the Crewcut.



That served me pretty well until around 64 when I got into surfing and adopted the "Surfer" style, which later became something of a "Beetles" look, similar to Goerge Harrison's pic in the "White Album"

Then I joined the Navy, and it went back to:



Now I just get it cut when it starts to annoy my ears.
