Is Marco Rubio in Trouble?

It looks like he might be. The officially backed party favorite may have misused a credit card issued by the GOP. The card had specific restrictions because of the tax exempt status of it. But it seems Marco had the family minivan fixed, did some grocery shopping and spent money flying the wife around among other personal purchases. The FBI is investigating.

All this grew out of criminal charges filed against another former republican Florida state house speaker who had allocated 6 million dollars of taxpayer money for an airplane hanger to be used by a friend and campaign contributor. Gotta love it!

Marco Rubio who has been benefiting by the tea-baggers in Florida is running as the outsider against Gov Charlie Christ for the republican nomination for an open Florida senate seat. Although Rubio is running as the outsider, he has been in state politics for a number of years and at one time served as speaker of the state house. So much for tea-bagger independence I guess.

What will the GOP now do if Rubio has indeed misused these funds? The GOP has been totally thumping Christ in public and may have to turn back to him. What a laugh! Christ is considering an independent run and I think should tell the GOP to get f@#!%d if he gets the opportunity. But he probably won't because like the majority of his party he may lack integrity.

It seems like Rubio could have been replaced by anyone, and would have done as well in the primary. I think the right wingers want Crist out only because he's not radical enough for them. The GOP seems obsessed with purifying themselves into a crazy, but pure minority party that votes 'no' on everything. In reality, Rubio is probably just as irresponsible with money as the rest of the GOP. :)

My inbox has a press release this morning from RPOF which might extend this thread:At today’s meeting of the RPOF State Executive Board, members unanimously passed a motion to suspend the grievance rule, and voted to recommend that Chairman Thrasher exercise his authority under Section 103.161 of the Florida Statutes and the Rules of the Republican Party of Florida to immediately remove of Jim Greer from any office he holds within the Republican Party of Florida structure.

And may thicken the cloud surrounding Rubio.
