Well here we are again, really pushing the boat out to celebrate our patron saint's day ! St. Andrew for Scotland is well celebrated, St. Patrick for Ireland is certainly well celebrated and internationally, St. David for Wales is also very well celebrated.
Why are we English so flamin naff ??????
I suppose it's a start that this year, at any rate, church bells will be rung throughout the land this evening around 6 - 6.30pm . There will also be numerous St. George's Day Parades by The Scouts and youth organisations etc. throughout England, on Sunday 25th April (coinciding with Australia's Anzac Day, this year).
Happy St. George's Day to all English born patriots, wherever you are ! :guitarist:guitarist:guitarist

TODAY I SAW ST GEORGES FLAG FLUTTERING FROM A MAST,
IT WAVED IN RECOGNITION TO THE GLORIES OF THE PAST.
IT BECKONED TO THE FUTURE AND SEEMED TO SAY ALOUD,
IF YOU SHOULD BE AN ENGLISHMAN LOOK UP MY SON BE PROUD!
COME WHAT MAY, LET MEN STILL SAY,
THIS IS ENGLAND
Happy St Georges day

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,--
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
Old Bill Shakespeare

Dammit!!
My EarWorm up till I read this thread was Serge Gainsbourg's "Requiem pour un Con".
I just went into the kitchen - gorgeous red pink and purple dawn here by the way - to brew the first coffee of the day and lo and behold, I'm humming the Gilbert and Sullivan : He is an Englishman!!! arghghghghghghghghghhgh
