I have been trying to get rid of (sell) some good looking pieces of Italian Black Leather furniture-----sofa, ottoman, side chairs at a really low price. There is just no market for used furniture like this. What I have discovered is that there are thousands of people wanting to do the same thing and that they must have bought about the same time that I did. I offered the furniture to each of my married grandchildren and they are not interested. Sooooo---maybe if I am lucky I can give it to the Salvation Army or Goodwill. What's the used furniture market like in your neck of the woods?

It's certainly no reflection on you, but the word out there is that you may be acquiring more than a sofa and ottoman when you buy used furniture. Bedbugs are back with a vengeance, and they can lurk for months in a dormant state within the crevices of furniture. If they do get into your home, it's extremely difficult to remove them.

I think that may be the reason people aren't buying used furniture.

It's great, never been better as many now use advertising sites that are free to post an add including pics, right in your own area where you live.

You advertise.......they pick it up from you....simple.

one is Kijiji and the other is craiglists.

You can find anything and everything on these sites, from a mug to a car.

many also sell on ebay.

Well, let's be realistic here,..it blatantly depends on the city you live in. I know of people that would blow somebody's brains out if they seen that furniture laying in the back of someone's truck, how's that for "used"?

I know about these sites, particularly Craig's List------there are hundreds of pieces of Black Leather Furniture that can't be sold. Been there and done that.

Do they have estate sales where you are? Sometimes you can give them things on consignment to sell for you. (In Nevada they have those.) I bought a black leather couch & loveseat at such a sale in Jackson Hole, WY.

Let it go Lon. Find a worthy recpient that truly is in need and donate it.

Thats worth much more than $450.00.

We have a local charity called GOFA - Good Old Furniture Available, people donate to them and they sell it on at really cheap prices. You can only purchase if you are a needy case though. Without that charity my children wouldn't have had beds to sleep in five years ago.

You did good Lon :-6

What's the used furniture market like in your neck of the woods? i will tell you what. older furniture is made a lot more sturdy then the new. all that matters now is who made it. and style. not workmenship anymore. but for your question. it does very well here.

I've calculated that 4 cows had to die to make that furniture. Must have been black angus. I'll take the ribeyes please.:D

Perhaps the "really low price" is only your perception of what a "really low price" is.

Is that 450$ about 30% of the new price?
