Why are some people so piggish?

I just don't understand how some people live in filth and clutter

I'm not saying my home and yard are always immaculate, but it's usually clean and organized. When I've been busy or had company, I'll clean it up as soon as I can.

I have 4 young men renting the apartment next door to me. The apartment belongs to the owner of the restaurant. There's a car parked along the small area next to the house and the area is filled with garbage....cans, wrappings....just junk. They never take out their garbage and when they do it's open and exposed to all the vermen. Wherever something falls, that where it stays:-2 No one picks up after themselves.

The owner of the restaurant has to clean and toss their garbage. Why doesn't he make them clean?

They had friends over last night and the yard which is a big courtyard is filthy....all their beer bottles, cups, beach towels, paper products are all over the place and usually ends up in my yard.

It's really becoming a health issue, and no one seems to care. Wonder if prospective customers look at the yard and still want to eat in the restaurant?

The renters across the street are the same way.

Maybe because they rent they don't care because they don't own the home:-3

Its obvious the owner doesn't care and the renters, are they tourists like you've had other years that played loud music all the time and left the place a mess, the young ones who drank all the time?

or are they permanent renters?

Some who rent, don't care, they leave it up to someone else to clean up their mess.

We have a beach 2 hours from here with tourists renting cottages, motels etc, they drink all day and night, the music is cranked 24/7 and there is a huge mess every-time they go. The owners don't care as long as these places get rented out for the season.

Hi Helen,

It's awful that people live like that. It really is a health issue to have that much clutter around.

One of my favorite shows is "Clean House". I can't believe the way people live and show it to the world!

Hi Odie,

There were many awful day trippers to the beach last year and this 4th of July holiday. One group of people dumped out the contents of their car in front of my home. They also threw out Mc Donald's french fries and nuggets. I found this mess the next day full of ants. Guess who had to clean it up:confused:ME:mad:My neighbor came out to help thankfully.

The renters last year lived here for 2 years. The parents couldn't control the kids, and the father finally threw them out after they stole $40,000 from his credit card. He was a contractor so he had a lot of credit. His son is living from friend's house to friend's house. Guess they're getting sick of him. The daughter is now a stripper in NY and paying for her college education:wah:

This is what I live next to...

Yes, you're right....owner of apartment is feeding me a big line....If this continues then I will be calling the health bureau next.

Hi Kathy

Id be getting sick of him as well, lovely family.:-5:-5

Plus the fact that you have to clean up after everyone, I would be flipping out at someone, do the police not care? They can charge them with littering, unnecessary noise, it is illegal to put anything on anyone's property, why are they not patrolling or why will no one phone them?

There may be exceptions but I have found that people that live the way that you describe are quite dysfunctional in other areas of their life.

You're right Lon. They are very dysfunctional. I think this is their 1st time away from home, and they don't know how to handle themselves. They're all in their early 20s.

I don't think they have much education or skills as they don't work many hours or take an interest in anything besides drinking and hanging out in front of their apartment. I never see them doing anything like reading a book or working on a hobby. They have too much time on their hands.

I really hope they move. Can't even imagine how they pay their bills, nevermind their rent.

can you not call your local police? They will be charged for littering, unnecessary noise, and throwing/putting

things on others property, as that is illegal.

I think they would probably be the same if they owned their home.

I rent, and know of many others who do. We do care and keep our houses as we would if we owned them. I can't see what difference it makes. I wouldn't want my home to be uncared for whether I own or rent it.

Kathy, since the owner of the restaurant also owns the rental, I would think a statement about losing business, might mean something to him. If not, mentioning the words "Health Department" might get his attention.

I would call the Health Department Kathy, when they see that mess, heads will roll!

I would have called them years ago.

They will not put up with any mess or they will close the restaurant.

How discouraging for you. Here we have bylaws regarding this kind of issue and a call to the city would have an officer out in a heartbeat warning them that if they do not clean the property up in a set time they will be back, clean it up then bill the home owner.

Some people just don't give a rip do they, seem gone are the days of caring.

I could call the Health Dept. but I'm trying to avoid that. If it gets worse I will call.

But, I live in a small beach community where the owners really need to rent their summer homes and renters and tourists are needed to keep the town alive.

The owner is cleaning up after them and trying to talk some sense into them.

It just amazes me that they're 22 years old or so and act like such pigs.
