Updates on return of search function?

I'm curious, I posted here in case others were wondering,
too.
I think TS said vbulletin was "working on it" but I didn't
imagine it would be this long of a time frame.
Particularly irking is not being able to link to a single post
in a thread (by using the yellow number in upper right corner)
and then there's the "loss" of 5 years worth of posts.
Inquiring minds, and all...

Some of the db bugs have not been worked out. And, there has not been a loss of 5 years of threads.
Not sure about the "not being able to link" comment. If you click on the number - it gives you the URL to the proper post.

To clarify - the jumping of posts from 2010 to (for example) 2006 is a sorting issue. The threads/posts are there. You can fiddle with your search settings to get different results.
The blank results when searching for posts by a user is still in queue as not resolved.

It will make a difference when the re-indexing's achieved though. Being able to find material allows for a lot of continuity in bringing back stories when they finally get news updates a couple of years on. When they put the fix in place it's definitely worth running.

Agreed. I've re-indexed FG just last week after a bug update was done. No great news yet.

It's probably just me either not understanding or not
explaining myself well enough... the link to a single post
http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/probl ... ost1322691
Gives the whole page, not just that one post, that's all I meant
and I guess not that big of deal.
The sorting/fiddling issue I guess I'll stumble around and look
at a little.

I was surprised by that as well. edit: It may be something I did. I'll continue to look into it.

It looks like I'm getting this fixed. Searches will be showing all results by 4 p.m. today.

Yes...or sooner. I'm up to 900,000 posts re-indexed. Getting close.

Thank you so much for the re-indexing TS, this is great and such a
joy for me to enter a favorite search word and explore and give
myself over to nostalgia...

I'm glad it worked! Looks like there are about 100,000 posts to go.
