2 years to the games....I'm so excited. We should know the price of tickets for the various events by the end of October. I would REALLY love to go to the Opening Ceremony....something to dream about.



I have one gripe though....the only Credit card accepted will be VISA as they are part of the sponsorship team. I do have a VISA card but prefer to use MASTERCARD....mmmmm

Guess they wouldn't be able to put on such an event if it weren't for the sponsors....it's the ususal 'suspects'......Coca Cola, MacDonalds, Adidas, BA, BP, EDF,....the list is huge.

Yes, they always do that, I guess to help pay for it. Let us know if you get to see any of the events, it is definitely worth it to see it live.

meh! olympic games are no matter to me but hte the Commonwealth Games being held in a war zone will be interesting in October.. I hope the fire crackers will be real ones.

As my Niece has now been named "Captain" of the US Women's National Soccer Team I have hopes to come to London and see the 2012 Olympics. I didn't go to the 2008 Olympics in China and the US Women broght home GOLD medals. !!! I sure hope I can make it no better Country to be in for the game of "Footbal" or Soccer as we call it in the states.

Well Visa will not be getting any of my money... In-Fact.. I am flying out to Georgia as soon as the games start. I do not want to be here even though The Rolling Stones are to open the games along with The Queen... That Is Elton John not her Majesty.

Yaa Boo Humbug.. Until they make Horse-racing an event, I am not Interested.

It will all be a disaster any-way.

Everything will be delayed due to the Polish Builders going on strike and 'Pedestrian activity' on every rail-way line.

The East End will be full of muggers, Pick-Pockets and Racist attacks... and that is just the Police !!!

The Equestrian team will return from a Tea-Break to find the horse up on bricks.

No-One will be able to use a starting Pistol without some Mother Rapper returning fire.

You will only be able to take pics providing no Police Officers are In camera shot because they do not like It do they?

There will be demonstrations against some Communist regime and then the Police will have to kill some-one on their way home from work.

The Toilet facilities will resemble a third world country.

You will be charged £10 for a cup of tea.

You should consider renting out your house to americans coming to watch the games (or do a house swap). You'd make a bomb, probably enough to pay for your trip.

My only concern would be how "Real farmyard animals...in the "countryside", with a menagerie of 70 sheep, 12 horses, three cows, two goats, 10 chickens, 10 ducks, nine geese and three sheepdogs." will react to the "million-watt sound system" :yh_ooooo

They'll probably have to get the sheep from Newcastle, they should be used to the :yh_ttth

If one were to choose a new sport to see which would it be?

I remember seeing women's field hockey about a year ago and thought it was cool. I think I'll watch that event. I've also never really watched tennis but after playing a bit this summer I've become quite fond of the sport, as well as golf. Both of which I always knew that I would love to play it's just that I've only recently tried my hand at them only to be more than correct. Love both sports(My daughter is just at this very moment rummaging through my newly acquired golf balls).

It has to be said though, Paul should have some accompaniment, his voice isn't big enough any more to give it his all for the occasion.

What an opening ceremony! I felt really proud of what was achieved...loved the NHS scenario and the Abide With Me scenes. I cried myself through the latter.

Those were two wonderful scenes. Liked the James Bond clip showing the Queen jumping out the helicopter, brilliant :wah:. I enjoyed the appearance of Mr Bean, unexpected comedy in what seemed a serious moment, what Britain does best, serious matters happen all around but we still manage to maintain a sense of humour and be able to take the pee out of ourselves

Hi Bez.... My eldest brother gt back from Paris and Is now at Box Hill... he's a real cycle nut.... ahhh Box Hill..... our parents took us for picnics there as kids.

As for McCartney.... I nearly switched off.

I am appalled that given this country has an abundance of young talent, they wheeled him out. Why do organisers believe we think he's a National Treasure??? Even Robbie or Elton would have rounded off a spectacular evening with some vibrancy. Hey Jude has to be the dreariest dirge the 20th century has produced and he was absolutely awful. The rest of the world must believe that's all we've got. Awful, just bloody awful.

My niece trained with Paige McPherson (Taikwondo) in South Dakota until she moved to Miami to train for the Olympics. Now Dad says the niece should aim for 2016 herself! :wah:

Oh, she is very good. I've been watching them all the whole year or more, she should do very well. Watch her spinning hooks when she spars, she has great heigth and power.
