Spirit Airlines

I live fairly close to the Atlantic City Airport in NJ. So it's easy for me to fly Spirit Airlines to Florida when I can't drive there.
They are now charging you for a carry on bag. They're charging $30-$45 per carry on bag. It's bad enough that you have to pay for your luggage and snacks. If you can fit something under your seat it's for free. The only thing I can fit under the seat is my purse. They claim that they can lower flight prices if they charge for miscellaneous stuff....Doesn't help me since I can only travel during peak seasons. I pay full price then.
I'm thinking that it's better if I just take the auto train down from DC from now on. It's extra hours, but at least I'll have my car and a sleeping berth.
What do you think about all these extra charges on airplane flights?
