I'm a developer, so I've been playing with Tiger since the first dev release...

This version is great, not so much for the new features that you can readily see (Spotlight, Dashboard, Automator, etc.) but the changes deep down in the system. It makes Tiger more stable and faster than its predecessors.

All in all, a great OS. Apple is pushing the envelope in the Operating System department; we'll see how Microsoft competes against Tiger with its next OS (codenamed 'Longhorn').

As a side note, the new H.264 codec employed in Tiger and Quicktime 7 is amazing! I was watching some new High-Definition movie trailers on Friday, and it's amazing how high the quality is...you can clearly see individual blades of grass, leaves, pores... Pretty spiffy.

A router will work with any computer that is internet-capable. However, killing the internet on specific machines on your home network will involve either (1) going into the router settings every night to ban the machine addresses of the kids' computers, or (2) manually disconnecting them from the router every night. The second option will work well, provided that you can keep your kids from plugging the cable back it :)
