I never before had someone else wash my car, and went to the full serve place. Oh my, nice and shiny! Hear the guy yell out which car was finished-"Mercedes!" nah, not me, "BMW", nah not me again, until finally my little old utilitarian car came out and was buffed up.
Do any of you ever do this, or just wash it yourself? My end of summer decadence is just beginning.......................:wah:

I gave up hand washing my car a long time ago I don't have the time or the desire. Just take it to the "Car Wash" let them do it. If it needs detailing they do that as well.

Yes when I was younger, & our kids still lived at home, once a week I used to wash my car, wife's car, & the kids cars that I bought for them. I enjoyed washing the cars. Now they're adults and take care of washing their own cars.
Anyway, for the last dozen or so years, I now bring my car & wife's car to the car wash once a week, & have them delux washed. (Spray waxed, rust inhibitor, undercarrage wash, wheels shined, etc.

It takes ages to get a car really filthy- that kind of look that says this car is used often, it is not a toy or poser's car - the kind of filth that gives a car real character. Then it rains and you don't have to bother cleaning it. I polish mine once a year - use the right stuff and do it properly that's all it takes and you just need to wash it down occasionally.
When I park my nine year battered nissan with 135,000 miles on it next to a shiny BMW or Mercedes in a car park which car has the most tales to tell? Which car says I don't need to impress anyone or need anyone's approval? It takes real self confidence and style to drive around in a battered heap. (that's my theory and I stand by it).
My next car just might be a korean made chevrolet. Naff is the new cool.

Oh, I drive an Elantra, a Korean made car. It is a very good car, after six years I have never had anything major wrong with it, usually just regular maintenance.

Yes years ago, I used to drive around a battered heap also, but, it was a "washed clean" heap! :wah:

Truthfully I take my 2005 Honda Civic to the car wash mayBE 2 times a month get it cleaned and detailed. My 1973 Camaro(I'm the original owner) still gets hand washed and treated like a baby.
