I took my car in to the car dealer's for servicing that was going to take most of the day, so they gave me a loaner. I was surprised at the pep & handling of the little "4" cyl Toyota Matrix they gave me. It seemed as powerful as my big ole 6 cyl 235hp car!
They sure have come a long way with their 4 cyl cars.
I have always said I would never want a 4 cyl car, but they may have just changed my mind to now keep that as an open option.

Yep I went from a 8 cylinder 350 Camaro that is consider a classic being a 1973 and a gas hog. To a 4 cyl Honda I also was surprised at the pep it had and sooooooooo much cheaper on gas.

Same thing here! My little S10 Chevy pickup with a V6 drives circles around those massive Ford F350s!

Drop half the weight and you only need half the power for the same performance.
Bonus is, with half the weight you get twice the handling.

Don't forget the fuel injection and four valves per cylinder. Big engines running slowly make sense on straight roads they don't if you need a responsive engine performance and handling on twisty roads. Interesting perspectives on size A bloke near me has an american chevvy pickup. It's actually too wide for any of the normal car parking spaces and has no chance in a multi storey of getting round the ramps easily - especially one built in the sixties. it's completely impractical for normal use and takes up half the road when it's parked, goodness knows why he bothers.
This is the UK equivalent I think
Toyota

I was surprised today but not as surprised as yesterday and I may be less surprised than I will be surprised tomorrow. I could be further surprised next week and If I am then I will be surprised because I have not been as surprised for a long time. This could surprise me If the surprise Is greater than surprise from previous days.

The differeing engine specs say a lot - we have no 2.4 litre and you have no diesel options - which would wipe the floor with your petrol.
