boo324 wrote: So Hi Ya everybody! I am back in recovery after a brief relapse..thank goodness! I had 9 1/2 yrs sober until 2000. Devastating divorce-didn't see it coming, lost house, bankruptcy, and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis...........all within 3 months. I got self-absorbed and obviously didn't use the tools that work if you work them. My relapse came quickly thereafter. It took 2 yrs of in and out before I was able to get another almost 3 yrs.........then recently relapsed again. :-5
I've now been back for 12 days and am so glad to be in recovery again. It's just too miserable out there!
I am so glad that I found an online support group-I really need all the help I can get to stay in recovery this time!
Going to many meetings, staying close to my sponsor and other winners-seeking support and help wherever I can find it. so here I am!
One of my greatest strength's is that I try to stay teachable. One of my weakest points is that I forget too easily where I came from!
So I'm really glad to be here and hope that I may get some help here and to be of some help-if only to remind people of the hell out there.
I need to remember my quote: "I breathe in, I breathe out, one Step At a Time, One Day At a Time".
Thank you for letting me join in,A very warm welcome to Forum Garden. ODAAT Here's looking at ya.

Hi Boo. Welcome to FG. I missed your intro thread somehow, and would like to extend a hand to another recovering alcoholic. I never had a problem with drugs, but the booze sure got me down. I quit drinking January 15 this year. No AA, no sponsors, just support from my friends and family and from my guy. Some of those friends are right here in FG. Never laid eyes on a single one of them, yet they supported me, helped when and how they could, and are always here. I am sure you will find the same. Hope you stick around, it really can help! Best of luck to you. :yh_bigsmi

Boo--by all means get another sponsor. As for working the steps of the program, you know by now what you have to do so DO IT. My husband hasn't drank in 20+ years. He stopped going to meetings about 15 years ago. I used to go to meetings with him so I know the program. It works. There are a lot of people there though, that gave up one crutch for another. They gave up drinking, but now cannot survive without the meetings, the drama of people backsliding, etc. Get a sponsor who you are comfortable. It may take a few tries. Funny thing is, hubby is now a bartender. :-2
