Is there a restriction on hair length in the NFL? I notice that several players have long dreadlocks & braids cascading out of the back of their helmet & down past their shoulders. It seems tempting to pull on it for a tackle or even to slow them down!

I dont know of a restriction but past a certian length it does slow you down with the weight and air resistance, and there if there is a tackle by pulling of the hair it is a 15 yard personal foul.

No restriction on hair length but paragraph 12, section 5 of the NFL Code of Conduct does state that nasal hair exceeding 5 mm in length is verbotten and subject to fines not to exceed $250.

I am sure butkus got away with a few but then again I wouldnt want to be the one to go up to him and tell him he had to pay a nose hair fine
