The Bible says it will happen, differing viewpoints on placement of time.

This boils down to viewpoints (christian, buhdist, judiasm, athiest, scientology, ect..,) I think as if you believe in it or not. Especially when using the term "the second coming" becasue in order to believe in a second coming you have to believe in a first.

It's a Utopian dream that the world will end.

As far as reincarnation goes, I'd not be surprised if Christ has been reborn more than once already. I hope he got to be a fluffy house cat with wealthy owners and silver platter dishes.

I don't think the second coming ought to refer to a literal reincarnation so much as a highly enlightened spirit capable of affecting world attitudes. Of course, Christ wasn't made king of the world and just had a small group of peace loving rebels behind him. It wasn't until after death that he became a legend. So, if another Christ showed up, we likely wouldn't know it until much later but hopefully we don't torture and kill the creature again. I don't think fame and fortune is something a Christ personality would seek so I don't expect it would be announced in mainstream news nor even on Wikileaks.

Whether fiction or fact, the story begs for a sequel.

It happens to each of us, and when it happens we are brought face to face with God, and ourselves, we are the ones who make the judgment upon ourselves, and mete out our own justice before the throne of God.

Armageddon takes place in our hearts every day.

The New Testament end time prophecies were intended for the 1st Century Christians. But every generation since then pretends that their generation is the one living in the last days. The problem is that Armageddon (figuratively) really is coming in the form of nuclear war, or environmental disaster. But we have to solve the problems ourselves, because there is no saviour coming back to fix everything and set things right! The fanciful notion that magic is going to save us is actually leading to complacency and creating more peril. When idiots like a certain Republican Congressman state that they are not afraid of climate change because its unscriptural and Jesus is coming back, I start recalling the tragic history of the Plains Indians, who gave up on the real world and joined the Ghost Dance Cult, which briefly taught followers that their saviour was coming back to kill and drive off the white man and bring back the buffalo; and all they had to do was the Ghost Dance Ritual and they would have magic protection from the white man's bullets......well, guess what happened to that prophecy?

I dont know if there will be a second coming. Anyone that declares definitively that a second coming is an absolute certainty is relying on faith and their belief system which of course as we all know is not a certainty at all.

Im inclined to think we as a people havent got a clue as to what this realm we find ourselves participating in really is. I believe the unfolding of our higher purpose is yet to come but we are not ready, We are inept and inexperienced at living amongst each other.

We compound the possibility of achieving enlightenment because we love to become distracted and involve ourselves is social chaos. A thing lives within us that transcends the obvious but were so self involved and greedy and unwilling to see the truth that which most probably is a living creation waiting to be realized and born is merely waiting for us to find it.

I believe humans ourselves hold the key to what ails us.

We are not, nor will we ever be, any more special or enlightened than any other species relative to brain capacity.
