You have a wonderful week off also Chonsi:-6 I'm so glad you had a good day with kidlets. We played basketball with the 6th graders last winter, and I nearly passed out peacefully with all the running around...oy vey!!!
We had a wonderful day opening presents that I gave the kidlets and having fun decorating a door knob hanger with dinosaurs, outer space objects, flowers and winter snowflakes.
Any nice plans for the holiday? I was going to go to Myrtle Beach for the week. But, I realized that I need to stay home and get organized. I will miss going away, but I'm happy to be home for the week...need to spend time with family and friends, clean the house and get some work done in the house and with my school work.
Hope your hubby is doing well Chonsi:-4
Happy holidays my friend:-6

My family was supposed to travel to the New York area today for a Christmas party at my brother's home. Unfortunately, I had to beg off as I have strep throat and am contagious for 48 hours.....oy vey:-1
Now, I'm glad that I did cancel !!!!!! The snow storm heading towards the northeast was supposed to veer out to the sea, but now it's going to hug the coast. Just found this out this morning that we're having our first major storm....12"-18" with gusty winds of 40mph......a blizzard for sure!
Luckily, I have all the stuff needed for the snow but no food in my home.....

Wasn't able to go out of Friday and today alllllllll the stores and restaurants were closed.
Wooooohooooo, I found spaghetti, sauce and garlic bread. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow to go food shopping before the snows come. Think I'll also have that cake that I gave to Binbag

:wah: Need to do some serious cooking tomorrow.
I'll put a mask on and try to go to the store before the storm comes.

Thanks Gill....All will be good as I have everything that I need except for food which I'll buy early tomorrow. I plan to go to the market at 7 am as they open then.
No one will be able to deliver anything tomorrow as the snow will hamper every travel mode.
I'll have the fire roaring and enjoy some quiet time.

Well, the snow is here and arrived with a bang. It started about 8:00 A.M. and there's about 7" on the ground. It supposed to continue until tomorrow morning. We may have about 18" when it finally stops. It's blowing so hard that I can't even open the door.
Went food shopping about 7 A.M. this morning before the snow arrived. Snow arrived about 8 P.M. and the wind hasn't stopped howling.
I tried shoveling 2x with no avail. Will just wait until tomorrow....oy vey!
Chonsi, hope you're ok.
Peg, thanks again for your lovely pm. You are a good friend:-6

I'm getting used to the large amounts of snow and ice by now Peg. I'm happy as long as I don't have to drive in it or shovel when the snow ices up.

It looks very pretty! Hopefully, we'll have some people knocking at our doors tomorrow, asking if we'd like for them to use their snow blowers to clean up the snow...wooohooo...YES!!!

Thankfully, you missed the bullet Chonsi. That's good news! It's truly awful here. Yes, thankfully, we didn't have to take any days off from school due to this storm. We had to make up 7 days from last year's storm.
I would have been on my way down to Myrtle Beach tomorrow, but thankfully cancelled my trip as I really need to stay home to work on school/home issues. Don't think that I'll get any work done on my home due to the snow.

Hi Val:-6
Come on over...make sure you bring an electric blanket and tongs for the fireplace. Threw away the old tools for the fireplace, and the snows came before I could get to the store to buy new ones.

BRRR! That reminds me of the winters in Pittsburgh and more lately the ones in Wyoming. Nice to look at, but for driving, no thank you! Great pictures. I'll show them to my step-grandson Daniel, who has never seen snow. I intend to take him to the Lagunas if they've got snow, just so he can see it and throw a snowball or two.

Wish I could send some of this snow your way Zap....Think I'll be snowed in for most of the week. Hope to see some of the snow blower guys, looking for work, to appear when the winds die down. You can't shovel now even though neighbors are trying:(
Luckily I have the week off for winter break!

I can't start shoveling right now as the wind is still blowing.
I'll try soon though and hope someone with a snow blower will happen by to help.

Ahhhh Peg, thanks so much. It's 22F right now. The sun is finally out and the temp will rise into the high 30s this week. Hopefully that will melt the snow.
I haven't seen one township snow plow all night or today. Wonder where they are...:-2. Probably shovelling out the mayor's home:wah:

Hi KE, I really feel for you. I've been there done that way too many times to count. That's why I am where I am now.
Anyway, don't over do it, take a 5 minute break every 10 minutes. It takes a little longer that way but it's safer for you. Better yet, as you said, try to get someone with a snowthrower to help! A snowthrower can do in 15 minutes what it would take a few hours to shovel. Best wishes, & stay warm.

Thank you Cars. I'm not worried about shovelling as there seems to be a lot of men who come around with snow blowers, and they don't charge much. Think people need the money and this is a good way to pick up a few bob!

Do snow blowers really work in that much snow? I would think you'd have to shovel before even using it. Don't overdo it. It's not going any where unfortunately.

Well it's not really snowing KE. But there have been a few frosty mornings, where the citrus farmers had to hire choppers to fly over their crops & push warm air down on them to keep them from freezing. This morning it started out at "35", but it warmed up to 60ish by noon.
Tonight, we're going to the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach to see Last Comic standing show. We're going to freeze our butts off, as it's supposed to be in the low 30's again! But at least it's not SNOW!

Thanks Mustang. I was lucky to come upon these fellas. Think we'll be having a lot more snow storms, especially in February so they've put me on their snow list:-6
I was getting a bit nervous last night. I couldn't get out of my home. The back door was barricaded with icy snow and the front door had 5 feet of drifted snow that I would sink in if I tried to cross...oy vey...Now, I feel so much better with free access to my home.

Unfortunately, I can't even move my car out of my driveway yet. The snow plows clean the main street and block the side streets in with frozen snow. Everyone gets stuck trying to get onto the main road. Plus, there's nowhere to park once you move your car.
This is the 2nd worse storm that we've had at the beach since I've lived here.
But, I'm happy to be home and not working for the week.

Hi KE, it might a good idea to not be in too much of a hurry to get your car on the roads. It's low to the ground, and may "hang-up" on any snow blobs the plows missed, & in some cases they even made. Driving would be very rough.
Anyway, stay warm, & have fun looking outside at the other's who are slipping & sliding, & freezing!
Just take advantage of having the time off when you need it, and you don't really need to go out till it gets better.

Thanks Cars. I won't be taking my car out on the road for a bit. The side streets are too boxed in with hardened snow, and I know I'll never be able to plow through them with my wee car.
I'm walking :wah:sliding everywhere and getting lots of exercise.
Hope you're enjoying Florida...I'm so jealous. Can't wait to go back to Siesta Key...I miss my time there.
