Hi,

I have a small electric motor. It runs small fan. And I turned it on this morning and it started to steam/smoke for about 10 secondes. I'm not positive if it was smoking or steaming(it was a little wet) and I herd a pop sound and then it stoped working :-5 would anybody know what that pop was or how I could fix it.

I cleaned the motor and looked for any lose wirers bet did not see any thing

any help would be very nice

I hope no squirrels were hurt!

Water would be the first thought, of course.

Other might be that the brushes became worn, and perhaps one jammed the motor.

there are electrical shops that can repair a motor.

If it wasn't that expensive get a new one, if it was espensive get it repaired.

I found the problem. there is a little fuse on the positive wire coming in to the motor. I tried going around it and it started to run. I'm going to see what I can do. I don't want to go with out a fuse. I'll probably just wire it to a replaceable fuse.

You can get fuselinks at Radio Shack. I'd replace it with the same rating ECT. I'd also take the motor apart completely and ensure it's totally dry. If water got into the windings the same thing will happen. You might want to stick in into the oven at about 225 degrees for about 8 to 10 hours.

Then again I'd just hunt around the local junk yards or the internet and be done with it. Is this a motor for your AC system?
