There is not a word in that video that is not true. Just one problem, what is the alternative? That is the conundrum. Even if we disbanded the military and throw all our money into R&D of alternative energy and all that it would take decades to get to the point where we could drastically cut our oil usage.

The people of the west have dug themselves quite a pit.

So long as people can post things like this as a patriotic tribute to america and completely miss the point of the song I don't think there is much hope.

I suspect you will find most people in western europe are more than aware of the double standards behind our foreign policy. What to do about it, there's the thing. We have a long tradition of street protest that has been dormant for a while but people are getting really pissed off at the moment.

I think the message of the song is very clear. I remember George Bush Sr and Saddam proclaiming "God is on our side". That was the nail in the coffin for religion in my eyes. I wanted to puke.



When you get to the American soldiers though, they do know what they are fighting for. They either have no choice or like and are willing to take part in what they're doing.

On the one hand America is not wrong in bringing stability to the world, I question though whether our way of doing it is in fact the right way.

Only an American could say that with a straight face. (imagine a smiley here would you- I've lost them again).

America has rather come crashing down off the moral high ground in recent times and is down there in the gutter with the best of them Perfidious Albion has now been replaced by perfidious uncle sam and whatever moral authority you once had has mostly gone lost in the pursuit of purely american interests - not those of the american people but of big business. Sadly euriopeans are still at it as well so we can't even be really sanctimonious about it. Actually perfidious albion has been replaced by sadly deluded living on past glories albion. We can't afford a navy or an air force but we can trident, meanwhile we give aid to countries richer than us - go figure as you yanks like to say.

The great game is still being played but it's time is fast going I hope.

You could say the same about the british soldiers. But then we've always had better soldiers than our governments deserve.
