I am not a religious person so burning any religious texts does not upset me. Burning the American Flag and certain effigy's like SNOOPY OR PEANUTS really gets under my skin, but not enough to commit murder. :-3

I've never protested by burning anything, I'm wondering what I might pick on.

I notice your President's declared himself for re-election - has anyone burned him in effigy? Would I be the first, were I to do so?

Why burn their President when we have a perfectly good Prime Minister of our own?

I'm sure no-one would object if you burnt him in effigy.

Is there an actual text in the Koran that forbids the paper it is written on to be burned? If so does it also require violence for said burning?

It's difficult to think of anyone in this country whom one could burn in effigy and get anything other than a cheer from the average passer-by. That dim singer from Newcastle that did the judging on... whatever that program was called that filled stadia. The X Factor. Her. People would sob and say nay ye wissn mussnt she's canny aye, or sounds to that effect.

Sure there is - it quotes the same "thou shalt not" from the Bible

Why just in effigy? If Gordon Brown and tony Blair were on fire I would be in two minds whether to go **** on them to put the flames out. OK that may seem a bit harsh but you look at them and maggie thatcher and you have to wonder why did we elect them? Actually we didn't but that is another thread. After the next election you might see Nick Clegg being burned in affigy by otherwise rational liberal democrats.

If you're not in America and you're not American then it's not illegal. In that it represents the country that has invaded their homeland (or sponsored their neighbours to do it for them) it is not altogether surprising that people in the area have been known to do so.

Burning the U.S. flag in the U.S. is not illegal as ruled upon by the U.S. Supreme Court. It represents Free Speech and is protected under the First Amendment.

You can still buy Maggie Thatcher toilet paper - They were going to produce a David Cameron/Nick Clegg version but because of cutbacks the paper quality was inconveniently poor.

Burning an idea or principle, religious, patriotic, whatever is OK by me in that I believe in the right to individual or collective expression but I also think it's an ******* thing to do.
