Congratulations Pink!!! Details, girl, DETAILS!!! How did he ask, was he down on one knee, what does the ring look like, did you set a date? Give!! I got engaged last Sept. It's a great feeling, isn't it? Way to go!!!! :yh_dance

ok so heres the details.........

(sorry for the delay work was so busy!)

we got together about 18 months ago..... and our first date he took me to Brighton (seaside beach for the non brits!) we sat on the beach and had pepsi in champagne glasses! (he was driving!) he bought candles but it was so windy we couldnt get them to stay lit!! and we went on the pier and ate chips and i got vinegar all over his coat!!

so on thursday (05/05/05!) (he picked the date specially!!) i had a hospital appointment at 2.20pm and we thought by the time i got out there would be no point going back to work so we took the afternoon off.....he told me he was taking me somewhere after the appt but wouldnt tell me where...... so we got in the car and he started driving on the motorway slowly all the signs went by and i was like 'where are we going?' he wouldnt tell me, then i saw the signs for Brighton, didnt actually think he was going to take me there tho coz we had to be back by 6pm to take his little boy swimming...... so we got to Brighton and got out the car, i had really bad stomach ache and wanted to just sit so as we walked closer the pier i said 'hey wheres the chips, youve walked past the pier, what kind of date is this?'....... still didnt know what we were doing in brighton when we could only stay for half an hour...... i thought he was just being his crazy romantic normal self..... he said 'no we have to go touch the water first.....' so we went down onto the beach and up to the water and stooped down to have a splash and i flicked him with water (love doing that!!) then all of a sudden he grabbed me and said 'shall i tell you what kind of date this is'...... before i knew it he was down on one knee with a beautiful ring in a lovely white box asking me to marry him!! after much giggling i managed to get the word 'yes' out!!!

it was so romantic and perfect and i love him to pieces!!!

then after all the giggling kissing and hugging we sat down and he pointed - see that building over there with the blue writing on...... were staying there the night!! it was the hilton!!! he had a room booked with a balcony etc, one of the best rooms in the hotel!! :O it was wonderful!! hed packed a bag for me and arranged with my bosses for me to have the day off! - we work together, diff floors and depts but same company - hed packed eveything, even the right pants to wear with my dress he brought for me to wear out in the evening!!

he even did the whole asking my dad for his daughters hand in marriage!

peg - not sure when the big day is yet.... still so excited about the engagement we havent got that far!!

i went and got the manicure done in the hotel we were staying at!! i wanted my nails to look nice so i could show the ring off!!



they are dark purple now!! the ring almost looks even better now, the gold really stands out against the purple!



ive been at work looking at wedding venues today - finally got some time to myself - its soooooo exciting, expensive but exciting!!



im soooo happy!!! my face is starting to ache from smiling so much!!

You'll have to start some threads about weddings when you start having all those ideas pop into your head. Several of us have had them here and maybe you can get an idea or two.

I love a good love story! It gives me hope. Actually I met my current online through a stupid cheap dating service. There weren't many of us 50 year old rednecks on it. Just goes to show you - you never know where love will come your way. Have a wonderful life together - enrich it with children if that is your pleasure. Most of all be kind to each other and TALK, TALK, TALK, sex, sex sex. Keep your communication open and honest and your love will flourish til death do you part.

PS. Don't let a wedding overtake you - no matter what Mom wants.

(especially the one about me having nice hands!! i always thought i had fat fingers!!!)

so ive kinda started to come up with a date..... he proposed 05/05/05 so i was thinking get married on 07/07/07? its saturday.....

or August 5th 2006 - date of our first kiss and also a saturday

tho i was toying with maybe doing it on a friday, his parents dont really work now and my dads self-employeed so can really work whatever hours, most our close relatives should be able to make it on a friday and then the venue would be so much cheaper..... could spend more on a dress!!

whats everyone think??

Think of this... it's the only month of the year with no other holiday!



Kinda cool to have your own in that month!
