First time I ever saw Russell Brand he was hosting an award show and not doing that well gauging the audience for laughs. Rather falling flat. I thought "who is this moron?"

I started seeing him more on panel shows, interviews and stand up clips via youtube and grew to not only like him but adore him. After seeing Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek I was a devoted fan. After reading the first of his two autobiographies, I'm convinced that this man could help change the world. In a good way.

A good clip showing his style in short interviews:

From his Booky Wook, it's just astounding that he could have been so self destructive and made it through to make a comeback. It's inspiring but so unlikely he seems almost mystical to me. Looking forward to reading Booky Wook 2 now. After the fame.

Sorry, couldn't disagree more - apart from the first paragraph that is.

I have very mixed emotions about the bloke.

He shows touches of genius, but his delivery and off the wall manner works against him.

I find just the way he talks irritating, while what he is saying might be funny or interesting.

He can't be ALL bad if he can pull that bird he married can he ?

In N America, we didn't know a thing about him until he was clean and sober so his previous antics are just... antics. He's got that little trick of saying "To my shame..." then wearing his flaws like a badge. If I didn't think he was sincere in just wanting to be loved and laughed at and that he was unconcerned about hurting people I might feel differently about him.

The reason I like him so much is because I believe him and he's the most honest famous person I've encountered. Honesty happens to be my priority trait for likeability to the point that if (when) I'm told somebody hates my innards and it's said by the person themselves, my first thought is 'that's so cool they were honest about it!'
